Mustaches for Michigan Wants to Know Where You're Watching the Opener
Hey Our Mustachioed Friends,
In the effort to bring mustaches together and truly harness the force of the 'stache, we want to know where you're watching the game come Sept. 5th. We've gotten emails from Mustached Michigan fans that want to be able to meet up with other members of the Mustaches for Michigan Movement and rock those cookie dusters in numbers. And we think that's a damned fine idea. No lonely mustaches here, please.
We founding fathers of the Mustaching movement are Los Angeles based. Much to our chagrin the UM Club of LA moved the bar from Hollywood Billiards to a bar called South in Santa Monica. That's where we will be on the 5th. After that first game, we're gonna take back the streets with our renegade mustaches and return to Hollywood Billiards. We welcome anyone in the LA area to have a beer with us. See ya at South on the 5th.
If you're in Ann Arbor going to the game, perhaps you might want to get together with fellow MGoAddicts and Mustache for Michigan Men? Or Chicago. Or NYC. Or Austin. Or Prague. Where ever you are, let us know and we'll try to coordinate. We'll compile a list of cities and their alumni bars, put people in touch. Feel free to hit us up: [email protected] or, ya know, reply in this thread.
Also, don't forget to email us photos for tomorrow's round up. Then it's one more week until we unleash the 'staches. Good goddamn we are giddy with anticipation. Let the 5th arrive swiftly.
Follow along with us at www.mustachesformichigan.com.

stache will be watching the game in Columbia, MO.
August 27th, 2009 at 3:49 PM ^
is taking me to Santa Fe. I can't imagine for the life of me there's an alumni club out there, so I am going to look for a friendly bartender with DirecTV.

buckley's in belltown, seattle
August 27th, 2009 at 4:36 PM ^
Michigan Alumni meet there every game. They have a giant projection screen as well as 14 other TVs.
August 27th, 2009 at 5:54 PM ^
yes indeed, the last two seasons i've gone out to rocksport, but the UofM club of seattle switched its allegiance to buckley's in belltown for this season.

hopefully it will be as awesome as rocksport was!
August 27th, 2009 at 6:27 PM ^
Good to know. The Rocksport was great though, I wonder why they switched. I've never been to Buckley's but I guess I am going now. It's much more convenient for me since I live by the Convention Center anyway.

New Orleans.
August 27th, 2009 at 3:54 PM ^
Where in New Orleans does the Alumni Club meet for game watches?
August 27th, 2009 at 4:17 PM ^
i have absolutely no idea. i don't know if i somehow failed to make my way onto mailing lists or am just not in the loop because i'm in my 20s. i do know, however, that the 20-30 crowd seems to flock to Cooter Brown's. randomly ran into a guy who lived on my floor in college who was visiting the city during the Purdue(?) game there. always a loud crowd. Clemson game there was ridiculous. had to ditch my friends from out of town to go be with the fellow alumni while yelling "if we're going to lose, i'm doing it with the people who've had to see the worst!"
August 27th, 2009 at 3:52 PM ^
From the stands. I will be taking the power of the 'stach right to the team.
August 27th, 2009 at 3:53 PM ^
I was seriously considering watching the game from my couch in Itasca, IL. But, there seems to be a ground-swell of enthusiasm for a gathering at one of the UM bars in Chicago. I may have to venture out-of-doors...
August 27th, 2009 at 6:35 PM ^
And...what is the average age of fans in attendance? I usually watch from my couch and call/text my friend in Grand Rapids because my husband thinks I am a freak (he is, of course, not a U of M grad but is kind enough to let me watch the games on our 40" TV) and I watch most of the games alone...I, too, may have to venture out despite my (self-diagnosed) social anxiety disorder, given the colossal significance of this year's opener.
August 27th, 2009 at 3:56 PM ^
is where I'm at.
August 27th, 2009 at 3:57 PM ^
New York City... either my apartment or Professor Thoms. I'm not sure I can grow out the stache (work reasons) but I can certainly try. I really wouldn't want to be the only one though!
August 27th, 2009 at 3:58 PM ^
I just hope we get the game there and not some ACC regional crap.
August 27th, 2009 at 4:01 PM ^
That is where I will be.
August 27th, 2009 at 4:32 PM ^
I will be about 15 rows in front of you sir, see you and your 'stache there.

August 27th, 2009 at 4:45 PM ^
I will be at South looking for those rockin a mustache. Any other MgoBlogers going to go to South? I look for you Mustahces4Michigan.
Luckily, I live in Silver Lake so the Mustache can actually be considered hip haha.
August 27th, 2009 at 6:12 PM ^
get yourself a fedora hat, skinny jeans, a hanes v-neck tee, a coffee from intelligensia and you could be the Silverlake posterboy.
see you at South! We'll be the ones with the mustaches.
August 27th, 2009 at 6:36 PM ^
Add in a drunken run in with Kiefer Sutherland at 4100 bar and I think that sums it up haha.
I'll probably skip the hipster gear in favor of some Michigan gear but maybe I can find some maize skinny jeans hah.

Any Bars in Tampa Bay area? I am sporting a sweet stache and want to show it off in numbers. Still I can't seem to find a Michigan hang out in any of the Tampa Bay sports Bars. I look like an ass at work so I would like some pay off.
August 27th, 2009 at 5:38 PM ^
Usually the alumni association for your area will have the bar listed on their page:

of course it looks like website for the tampa club is down... maybe there's another poster out there that knows the tampa bay situation.

August 27th, 2009 at 11:01 PM ^
ply your brother with shots of jaegermeister - lets say one for every touchdown during the game. when he passes out after after we hang 70 on WMU, draw a mustache on him with a sharpie.
grow blue.

At Michigan Stadium, in Ann Arbor.
August 27th, 2009 at 6:54 PM ^
Ess-Eee-Cee country. So in other words, at home, on my couch. Exchanging cell phone calls with U-M fan relatives, as usual.
August 27th, 2009 at 7:55 PM ^
Maybe I can sneak in.
August 27th, 2009 at 8:11 PM ^
I'll be watching from my house in Charleston , SC
August 27th, 2009 at 8:34 PM ^
I can't grow a 'stache, but I'll be watching the game at Michigan Stadium.
August 27th, 2009 at 9:10 PM ^
That's the only michigan bar I know of.
I'm getting flown out to James Madison in Harrisburg VA for an interview that Friday. They were gonna get me a flight on Saturday that would make me miss the game. I told them about my UM fandom, and they paid double to book me a flight that leaves Charlottesville at 7am so I could make it back in time for the game!
I'll be cutting it close, so may end up just finding a bar in Tempe.
August 27th, 2009 at 9:20 PM ^

Me and my MGoChin-stache will be watching the game from my MGoCouch wuth my MGoDad and his MGoMustache (too many MGos?)
August 28th, 2009 at 1:30 AM ^
at home, on my couch. Had plans to go to HB for the ND game on the 12th but turns out that I'm heading to a friend's home for an all-day of footie...U-M v ND and OSU v USC...food & drinks!! Hope to make it to HB for the MSU game but looks like I might have to head to the South in Santa Monica, though it's a much longer commute from Glendale, where I live, than Hollywood!! Hopefully, by then, it'll be back at the HB...LOVE the place & atmosphere!
August 28th, 2009 at 2:40 AM ^
...will be somewhere in San Francisco. Either at Chez Me, or at some bar nearby. I suppose there's a theoretical possibility that I'll be at the Michigan Alumni bar, but that particular establishment is in a neighborhood that doesn't appreciate swarthy and somewhat shady-looking mustachioed hipsters such as myself invading their popped-collar Abercrombie paradise.
Suggestions would be welcome.
