Whichever team gets the games on TV earlier!
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:32 PM ^
Cardinals then
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:41 PM ^
This!!!! No more 9:30 starts please.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM ^
all of the WS games are 8pm starts.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:05 PM ^
I live in St Louis so... Cardinals.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:08 PM ^
Giants. For three reasons:
1. SF as a city > St. Louis and would give the Series more panache
2. We're undefeated in Series against California teams - against the Cardinals we're only 1-2
3. While I think the Tigers are better than both teams I like our chances better against the Giants.
Neither team seems to know how lose a series though so tonight should be quite a game. Between the debate, the Lions and the NLCS my remote is going to get a work-out!
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:09 PM ^
Revenge for 2006.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:09 PM ^
Want a rematch of the 06 world series.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
How many World Series have the Tigers been to where they DIDN'T play the Cardinals? Serious question...
October 22nd, 2012 at 3:26 PM ^
Tigers have met the Cardinals 3 times in the WS (1934, 68, 2006, 12?). Played the Cubs 4 times (1907, 08, 35 and 45), the Pirates once (1909), Reds once (1940), and Padres once (1984).
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
I'm sure the Cards want a rematch, but what about the Tigers?
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:14 PM ^
I ALWAYS root against the Cardinals!
On another note, my team choked.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:25 PM ^
This is our year. I had the feeling as soon as we made the playoffs. We re jellin
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:26 PM ^
Definitely the Cards. I want paybacks for 2006.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:27 PM ^
We owe them some payback.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:33 PM ^
Cardinals, because they only have to travel one time zone instead of three. I don't care too much though as long as the Tigers win.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:33 PM ^
Can I write in a candidate? The Yankees!
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:49 PM ^
Cards. My coworker is a Cards fan and I hate him.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:51 PM ^
Don't care. Just want to see our pitching staff again. Is it me or does after watching baseball everyday almost for 162 days minus the allstar break, 5 days off feels like a lifetime.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:08 PM ^
...it's just like when you've been working really hard and then actually take a full weekend off and it suddenly feels like you've been away from the office for a month when you return on Monday morning.
Plus, a pennant race really elevates the intensity down the stretch.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:51 PM ^
then go with the Cardinals. You'll have the Cubs' and White Sox's biggest rivals playing each other (again) for a title that most Chicagoans have given up on ever seeing again.
As a Chicagoan, I'm pulling for the Giants to make it, but honestly I stopped caring about this baseball season months ago.
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:55 PM ^
The team with more right handed pitchers/hitters. Although I think the Tigers match up a little bit better against the Cardinals than they do the Giants, regardless both teams won't have their aces' on the mound Wednesday night.
PS- Make sure to have batteries in your remote for Saturday night, the Tigers and Michigan play at the same time......FU!
October 22nd, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
I want tigers vs cards! I am a tigers fan but a bigger cardinal fan! But with Detroit being able to rest they will have a better rotation to start.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM ^
I'd prefer the Cardinals also. As a moderate baseball fan, the Tigers are my first team but with my wife being from St. Louis the Cardinals are my second so I'd be happy either way then, though I'd definitely be more happy to have the Tigers win.
Been to both parks a few times and both are great places to see a game, fans also very good on both sides in my experience.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
What is this "October Baseball" of which you speak? "World Series" is still a thing?
October 22nd, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
World Series: A seven game series which matches the American league Champion against the Chicago Cubs during October of a year in which a World War ends.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
Seems oddly familiar. Tearing through the playoffs in short order, rolling the Yankees, then sitting around for a week waiting for the other guys to play the full 7 before facing the Cardinals. That said we can beat either team so it doesn't matter. Can we play them both? I want to beat them both.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
De Los gigantes. For me Detroit SF series would be What you call a perfectly hedged position.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:52 AM ^
Game 2 tickets locked in.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
Mike Matheny played baseball at Michigan for Bill Freehan. Go Tigers, but I also want to see Matheny make it to the World Series and make UM baseball proud.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:42 PM ^
Definitely the Giants..the Cardinals always scare me in the postseason.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:50 PM ^
I would have to go with the Cardinals for a few reasons. Not only would I like to have a do-over for 2006 with a more favorable result, of course, but taking a cursory look at how the numbers have been trending, at least in the NLCS, the Cardinals would definitely present the more exiciting potential pitching matchups (Giants team ERA in the NLCS is almost double that of the Cardinals), not to mention that, at least statistically, St. Louis has a slightly less dangerous lineup than San Fransisco (at last calculation, the Giants were around .240 for a batting average, whereas the Cardinals were near .220 - the figures are at home and it was 1 AM, after all).
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:02 PM ^
These Cards pull wins out of their butts all year; give me the Giants and their incredibly-mediocre offense (thanks fantasy sports!) and shakey pitching staff.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
It would drive the national media nuts to have another all-midwestern WS. Plus, I have always felt the Cards have among the coolest uniforms in baseball, and St. Louis is a true baseball town.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:16 PM ^
The combination of Detroit's bullpen and the tenacity of the Cardinals in the late innings is pretty terrifying. It would, however, be pretty sweet to beat them in revenge of 2006. Of course, that also makes losing to the Cardinals even more unbearable.
San Fran seems like a more exotic matchup and if I were the travelling type it would definitely be fun from a roadtrip perspective.
Honestly, I don't know who I would rather see the Tigers play. Thankfully, the Tigers are there regardless of who it is. I'm just hoping for a good series and by good series, I mean a Tigers 4 game sweep. I can easily live without the drama.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
could be a rain out tonight and tomorrow here in SF
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:40 PM ^
then I can go to the game and root for the Tigers
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
I don't think the team can hear my cheers through the TV.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:45 PM ^
I want to play the team who plays most like the Yankees.
October 22nd, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
I think the Giants offense is mediocre and is more likely to be shut down by the Tiger's pitching staff. I'd rather take our chances in what is sure to be a pitching duel with the Giants.
Then again, if you assume the Tigers can shut ANYONE's bats down, then the Tigers are more likely to score runs on the Cardinals.
October 22nd, 2012 at 3:39 PM ^
Don't care. They both have solid pitching staffs. The offenses are about equal. Cardinals would be cool because it'd be the fourth Tigers-Cards series, and Midwestern WSes are always nice so that we don't have to deal with the media's coastal bias. Giants would be cool because they're an "original 16" team that the Tigers have never played in the Series. The Cardinals have cooler home uniforms, the Giants have better road uniforms. Both will look really stupid missing a Justin Verlander curve by eight inches. I'm not picky. I just want tonight's game to go 30 innings.
October 22nd, 2012 at 4:59 PM ^
gotta say cardinals. Even if the cardinals win tonight, they won't have that much momentum going into the world series. If the giants win, their fans will be fired up and inspiried from the unlikely comebacks in both the divisional and national league series. Plus the cardinals are closer to our time zone so the away games won't be on quite as late.
October 22nd, 2012 at 5:15 PM ^
Then I dont have to stay up late to watch the whole game
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:07 AM ^
,I moved to st louis this year for law school and wanted to see one in person, or at least have friendly ribbing with locals and my profs who are huge fans. And the whole giants being hot thing is shitty
October 22nd, 2012 at 6:41 PM ^
I want no part of Cain/Lincecum/Vogelsong in a short series, even if Lincecum isn't right physically. Sooner or later it's got to strike midnight on the Cardinals.
Cardinals, please.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:40 AM ^
Pitched poorly in Game 4 and may not start given Zito pitched a gem in game 5. (Bamgartner has fallen off a cliff so it's not clear he will start another game this year.)
