HELP - Need to Watch the Game Online

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

My cable provider does not carry BTN, which also means BTN2go is out for me. However, I need to watch this game from home (due to child care responsibilities).

Do any of you know what my options are? It seems as if Big 10 Digital Network will only carry audio. I don't mind paying, if need be, but obviously free is better. HELP!

And you sir are an asshole.  And apparenlty have never asked a question that you couldn't research the answer to on your own.  Probably didn't even go to school either because you know, there's libraries and the internet, you can just look up all of the answers yourself, and asking questions is for morons.

You sir are not in a position to "point out the assholes".  You've been a member of the site for 14 days -- you haven't seen the frequency that this subject comes up.  Oh, look, 6 threads down is a "Help Needed - Honeymoon in Curacao" thread that asks THE SAME EXACT THING.  (Not to mention the two streaming websites that are listed in numerous threads every single week).

The account may be 14 days old, but I've been around A LOT longer than that.  More than twice as long than your 2 years and change in fact.  So yes, I have seen the frequency that this comes up, and I've continually seen people go out of their way to be a dick about things rather than just give a straight answer.  For a fan base that likes to espouse the greatness of being a Michigan Man and claim that they are the leaders and the best, there sure are a lot of people that don't follow that mantra at all.  And yes, I did go to Michigan and graduate, so don't assume (again) that I'm some outsider tearing down the institution.

I don't see why people can't just help the guy out and move on.  He sounds like he normally goes to bar or something to watch the game, so he may not be aware of the streaming options.  Or given how quickly things change when it comes to illegal streams, maybe he was just checking to see if anything has changed since the last time he had to do it.

Now as for the Curacao thread...that one's just dumb.  A college football board would be about the last place I'd look for honeymoon advice.

That so many people who claim they don't want to read something actually do when the title is pretty clear on what they can find inside. And then take more time to respond. Seems to me like they really do want to read stuff like this, doesn't it.

Why on earth they'd want to troll on a day like today, and towards a fellow fan (an alumnus, actually) is less clear. I'd think any self respecting alum would want to help ensure all others can watch the game.

Why do people have to get so nasty about this question?  Not everyone reads the messages boards every day, and to them this is a valid question.  I am a computer programmer so I knew to look before I post, but if my dad were to become a cord cutter like I did last year He wouldn't know to check the board.

Heaven forbid someone may have to copy and paste a link, or even type it out.

I don't post much, but that's my 2 cents.

OK, downloaded that profile, so completed steps one and two

My username and pw are accurate, i know this - i've tried fake ones and it wouldnt even accept them.

You can only access the all traffic profile if you are a current student or faculty. They recently introduced a alumni-retiree which is the only one you can use to connect if you are an alum. And as far as I can tell, you cannot access UM IPTV if connected to that profile.

And don't have time to remember things like that.  Not all Michigan fans are in that lovely 18-30 sweet spot of zero responsibilities.  It would be nice if people could just be helpful instead of completely worthless assholes that mock the poor guy for not knowing.  Would have taken less effort on your part to just answer the question.

It gets a little tiring that every week you have 3-4 people who post asking the exact same question.  It's pretty easy to search the site and fine the answer from last week, or the week before, or the week before that, or the week before that, or the week before that, or from last season, or the season before that, or the season before that...You know the post game snowflake threads?  We need a pregame snowflake thread as well for those who seem to think they are special and have a new and unique question for the community.  Whatever happened to searching for yourself before asking everyone to find something for you?

Typing in "streaming options" pulls up hits for the spring game, Alabama, and things from 2010.  I wouldn't consider any of that current info.  If you went with "Streaming options Michigan State" the first one that pops up is a hockey game from 2009.  So yeah, its not as useful as everyone makes it seem.  And with the quickness that these streaming sites change (justin.tv was the hot one a year or so ago), I don't think its unusual at all to ask a question.  And if you've got kids to watch, rather than using that search function and sifting through all of the old threads to find what "might'" be the best option this week, its easier to just ask the board a question 3 hours before the game, go back to taking care of your kids, and then find out what the hive mind thinks the best option is this week.

EXPAND. YOUR. SEARCH. TERMS.

why the hell are you limiting yourself to "streaming options"? First of all, I can't say I've ever seen someone use that particular phrase in a comment, less-so in a thread title.

Just seach "stream game" and you should get at least 5 relevant threads from sometime in the  near past. It really not hard.

1) I don't see how "stream game" is much better than "streaming options".  And streaming options is what you would call the choices available for watching a live stream.  "Stream Game" sounds like something you'd play on a camping trip or something.  And either way, they both pull up the same type of random threads including one from six years ago.

2) You still have to sift through all the crap to find something relevant, but you don't know if what worked for the UMass game is still a viable option.  In the end, its just easier to ask the board.  But apparently, repeat topics are the worst thing in the world here.  Nice to know the Michigan fan base is super helpful and understanding.

1. You do know how the seach works right? It looks for whatever search terms you enter in both thread titles and posts. Now if no one ever uses the words stream options in a post, nothing relevent would show. If you use stream game, most people's titles are things like, "WHERE TO STREAM THE GAME ONLINE?". Naturally, that shows up as a result because it contains the terms. It doesn't have to be exactly right.

2. There's nothing to sift through. Just find something from earlier this season and chances are, there's at least 2 websites listed. One of them is bound to work.

You wouldn't have looked so stupid if you just referred to the "Help Needed - Honeymoon in Curacao" post that was still on the front page of the board when you posted this.  All of the answers that you're so thankful for were already posted in that thread.

What part of a post titled "honeymoon in Curaco" has anything to do with live stream info?  You wouldn't come off as such a malcontent if you just gave out the info and refrained from harassing someone that just wanted a simple answer to a simple question.  You had the second reply to this post, could have just given the answer, and ended the entire thing there.  But instead, you thought it would be more fun to be ultra sarcastic, and then later call that person stupid.  Good job.  Way to contribute.
