Jersey Inconsistencies (not Uniformz related)

Submitted by JeepinBen on

So it's been pointed out before that Adidas has had some... inconsistencies in the jerseys and their piping on the away unis:

Notice how Roh's piping goes above his name, QWash's is below. Yesterady I noticed something weird with the home uni's as well. As part of the "Block M is Everywhere" campaign, a block M was added to the back collar on the home jerseys:

You can see Kenny Demens has a Block M on his back collar here (from yesterday):

However, the offensive players (as best I could tell) didn't have a block M yesterday. They had text "Michigan" in that spot.

PhotoLook at the collar on the Funchise. Anyone know why this is? I'm not trying to complain so much as my OCD tendancies hate Adidas.

Different strokes for different folks. There are different versions of the uniforms, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I like uniforms that aren't uniform.

The piping differences I think just come down to where the seams are. Different body shapes and preferences means different seam locations, and since the piping follows the seams they come out a little bit different. Not sure why some have an M and some have Michigan on them though. I like it either way, but I guess I'd prefer they were all the same.

...good thing this isn't professional football.

With that said the text "Michigan" is the new jersey that Adidas has made for this year. With that said jerseys rip causing players to go back to the old...or they flat out just like the old jerseys better.

Same with the aways. Some guys like last year's fit better.

I'd much rather beat the snot out of teams like Illinois and Purdue with jerseys that our guys WANT to wear and feel comfortable in than look like the Soviet Army and lose or play bad.

Sidenote: We don't need a thread every single week about different jerseys! We can all see it with our own eyes. I noticed yesterday when Des Morgan had the block M...likely because he got a new number and it had to have the patch sewn on.

Also, it has nothing to do with offense/defense

I totally agree with you...I hate bitching about little stuff like this, but this is Michigan, a major brand.  You don't see that stuff with Nike and Under Armour or at least I don't notice it.  This year it is just the piping...last year half the team had the Yellow wings on the back and the other half didn't...that was ridiculous.

It's happened before.

Longtime fans will remember that Anthony Carter used to wear a completely different jersey - a cheap, tearaway one - from his teammates to make him more elusive.

The Fab Five's shorts were iconic, but they actually weren't uniform.  Some players had the block M at the bottom of their shorts, while others had it in the middle.  The evidence:

The M on the back is on the Techfit jerseys. Most of the team stopped wearing them against Purdue. An easy way to tell, (besides the M missing) is the body is your typical mesh with holes in it. The techfit's are a solid material.

I hate the yellow piping on the jersey.  If we completely got rid of the piping and kept the away uniform simple, white with navy numbers and a yellow outline, we would look much better IMO.  And it's just pathetic how we can't all have the same uniform on every game, it's almost like we are trotting out a grade school team who uses the jerseys from the prior season because they don't have enough of the new ones.  I know the differences in the uniforms are petty, but they really do bother me and should bother any real Michigan fan.  It's unacceptable and I cannot wait for our contract with Adidas to be up.

It's so we don't look like a clusterF.

When I was in Jr. High School, our uniforms were borrowed from 2 different Sr. High Schools.  It looked like the circus it was.  I expect slightly more from the "Winningest Program of all time" that seems to pay close attention to its "brand".

Id prefer these to be our road uniforms for good. (are these the practice jerseys?)

They are simple, no piping, and the block M adds just enough detail to make them "ours."
