Michigan Hockey Opener vs RIT - Game Thread

Submitted by bacon1431 on

Michigan hockey is back!! Great thing about collegiate sports is you don't have to worry about strikes and lockouts.

Things to watch tonight:

- Goalie situation. Rutledge was shaky (which makes sense being a frosh and recently recovering from injury) in the exhibition. Will be interesting to see how he handles the nerves of his first official game.

- Blue line play - Merill is out for a while. Still fairly confident about the first two lines, third will be a question mark. But I see potential there. We'll see

- Forwards off to a quick start - Guptill is supposed to be one of our big scorers this year, so it'd be great to see him off to a great start. Interested to see who will be the supplemental scorers this year as well.

RIT nearly scored on the post-penalty breakout. Put it just over the bar.

Our PP looked pretty good though. Not sure if that's us being good or RIT being bad

I assume that the Zamboni kept them from being able to do that.

The best I can figure, the major renovation meant that the arena had to comply with the ADA, which meant there had to be about 20 wheelchair seats on each end of the ice, plus some more up on the luxury box levels.  With the Zamboni entrance in the southwest corner, that kind of screwed the students in the southeast corner.
