Why no front page Muppets?
I haz sad.
Football team wins and wins big on the road. Denard does his Denardy thing and runs for hundredry jilliion zillion yards, Gibbons puts it through the uprights (even when he misses), D is dominant, gets a pick 6 and wins the turnover battle for a change this season.
Yet no glorious front page muppets. No "you can't have one without the other" glorious, wonderful, lovely, Muppets.
Does anyone know why?
Edit: And now I know - it's Purdue (not a Muppet-worthy win)

Obviously.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:29 AM ^
It was Purdue.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:32 AM ^
Picked to beat us and win the B1G.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:45 AM ^
Many were wrong.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:30 AM ^
Fergodsakes.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:30 AM ^
This is Michigan, fergodsakes. We're supposed to beat Purdue.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:31 AM ^
Because we did what we were supposed to do. IMO, muppets should only come out against rivals like OSU and MSU and big-name opponents.

Noob

Are we being muppet rationed? We were a mere 3 point favorite and every talking head (save Desmond) on ESPN picked Purdue, every analyst on the B1G network picked Purdue, and we not only won we throttled them on the road.
Not muppet worthy?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM ^
As if espn and BTN analysts know what they're talking about. You said it yourself, we were favorites. No muppets.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:38 AM ^
Ourss are not so much. Beating a crummy B1G team like we know we can isn't muppet worthy
October 7th, 2012 at 9:39 AM ^
The fact that anyone thinks that beating purdue is a remotely big win shows how much the past 4-5 years have diminished our expectations. It wasn't too long ago that purdue was viewed as a gimme game akin to umass. I know that they were getting some media love for beating up on the blind step-sisters of the poor in their non-conference shedule, bit that shouldn't change the fact that they are purdue, a perennial middling big ten school.
This is Michigan, fergodsake!
October 7th, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
(The Hootie and the Blowfish guy) he said and I quote "one thing you can count on when Michigan plays an average team is for Denard to do great--Michigan wins big." He was dead on--and that's also why muppets are inappropriate.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM ^
Are generally reserved for big wins. Beating purdue is not a big win.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM ^
As part of the guidelines for in-season posts, there was this bullet:
"Muppets are for BIG THINGS only. Beating Alabama is a muppets thing. Beating UMass is not."
I don't think Purdue fits the criteria.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 AM ^
...all BiSB's fault for leaving so much to interpretation.
Way to go Bry Mac. Way to go.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM ^
We beat Purdue. We get muppets when we beat MSU, OSU, ND, or the bowl game... and even then it is not guaranteed.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:08 AM ^
I am more worried about Nebraska than Sparty this year (though Burkhead is looking more and more quetsionable).
OTOH lets face it, the B1G may suck so bad that maybe Ohio, the B1G Championship and the Rose Bowl are only muppet worthy.
Then again, a for serious beat down of Sparty might make me feel like we should bring out some muppetry.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 AM ^
We've come a long way. This isn't 2010, where the muppets use reached an all time low with the unleashing after beating UConn
October 7th, 2012 at 9:55 AM ^
We had muppets last year after we beat Illinois.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:04 AM ^
I can't recall if that did happen but if so I would think it was because that was the first complete performance and domination of an opponent in the Hoke regime. A celebration of the end of the dark years so to speak.

True. Just wanted to give a little support to the OP to let him know he wasn't totally off.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 AM ^
Ok....I understand now. But in two weeks, after we put an end to that wretched losing streak to MSU we get muppets.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:40 AM ^
we'll get muppets when Brian says we get muppets.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:58 AM ^
and you will be happy about it.
(I do so like Beaker though)
October 7th, 2012 at 9:40 AM ^
This is Michigan fergodsakes. We blow out Purdue.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:41 AM ^
If beating a 6-6 Purdue team warrants muppets, I'd really "haz a sad".
October 7th, 2012 at 9:47 AM ^
FWIW it's not like we've been this dominant road team against anybody lately (see all games 2008-2010, Iowa & MSU 2011 and this year's Kick-off Classic) so I was kinda hoping for this game to get acknowledged - more so in the complete ass-kickingness of it.
But I understand why it wasn't.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:48 AM ^
is this a trick question?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:55 AM ^
Because we are going to have to beat them again for the B1G championship
October 7th, 2012 at 9:58 AM ^
Am I the only one who feels as though mgrowold starts threads or posts just to show off that picture of his wife?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:07 AM ^
Not true. I usually start threads to show off pictures of the coaching staff wandering by our tailgate trying to go home after games.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:04 AM ^
I don't think he does, but it's a nice side benefit.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:59 AM ^
like some of their team were muppets
October 7th, 2012 at 10:17 AM ^
Guess Kate is out too?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:28 AM ^
This is Michigan fergodsakes!
October 7th, 2012 at 11:32 AM ^
The only time you'll see muppets for beating Purdue is on Dec 1, when we beat them in the B1G title game
October 7th, 2012 at 12:19 PM ^
It's like beating Western Michigan - it's a nice win but you shouldn't throw a parade for it.
October 7th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
I can't wait for someone else to post the same thing after next week....
October 7th, 2012 at 1:32 PM ^
Well it wont be me that's for sure.
October 7th, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
Here are items that would be Muppet worthy.
- Wins against Ohio, MSU (this year,) ND next year.
- Win the Big10 Championship.
- Wins against a BCS opponent in a BCS Bowl.
So, for the balance of the year, I would expect Muppets on the following occasions:
- Beating MSU
- Beating Ohio
- Beating Wisconsin (in Big10 Championship Game)
- Beating opponent in Rose Bowl.
In basketball, the following might qualify:
- Winning NIT pre-season Tournament;
- clinching the Big10 Title
- winning the Big 10 Tourney
- Making it to the Final Four.
- Winning the Final Four?
In Hockey, winning the championship, and winning the NCAA.
October 7th, 2012 at 2:16 PM ^
beating MSU / OSU would also qualify for muppets. Also if we beat a quality team like Duke.
October 7th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
Even if it's not muppet worthy, how about something about the game on the front page?? I've found myself starting to ogle other blogs... and I feel dirty.
