The Victors Drinking Thread

Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
The leaders and best!
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
The champions of the West!

Now that The Victors is (rightfully) stuck in your head, how happy is everyone that Purdue got crushed tonight? What's the drinking schedule look like for during game, post-game, pre-Ohio and beyond? Just have to mention that I'm sad my alma mater couldn't topple MSU earlier.

Anyway, what's everyone drinking? I'm having some cheap coffee liquor mixed with coffee and some flavored creamers. It sounds odd to say, but the only thing that could cap this day off is Ohio beating Nebraska.

Since the original thread has served its purpose, I'll just say this should be a full-on drinking thread. I've been having alcoholic coffee all night, I'm now switching to some wine (Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc) followed by cheap champagne to celebrate the girlfriend's fall ball performance and the Wolverine's clinic in West Lafayette. What about you, MGoPosters?

I will root for Ohio against anyone in the division, no matter what the circumstances are. I'd rather mathematically win in October, but that's just me.

*I was raised to believe that Cooper was the perfect coach in Columbus, and I have a hard time disputing that. "#1 Ohio State falls to Michigan" sounds incredible, no matter the number in front of our team.

I feel young and headstrong again! Glorious victory over the Boilers and fresh humiliation for the learned talking heads of the TV set. The protected IU-State rivalry is really heating up. I look forward to more exciting matches between these two storied programs.

LSU is toast, but can still spoil Alabama's season. For tonight, Go Mountaineers, Fightin' Pryors, Bulldogs, Convicts.

I find it easier to just say "I'm routing for Nebraska to loose".    Imagine trying to explain to your Dad why it's good for Nebraska to loose when playing Ohio.  I will say his response (argument) beat mine...  "If we win all our damn games it don't matter who wins this game, so I want Nebraska to win!"

I'm never this guy, and I agree with everything you said, but "loose" is the slutty girl in your high school. We are hoping that ohio is going to "lose" or Nebraska is going to "lose". I'm still conflicted on that, but I think I agree with your dad, we win out and nothing else matters. The "loose" "lose" thing just always gets to me.

I don't, I would love to move to Vancouver... I will probably do that if the wrong guy wins the election in November... That said, why do you ask? Do they spell defense wrong in Canada?

I just drank a Victory Brewing Company Festbier. It was a decent styled Oktoberfest. Now back to studying or Audit CPA exam (which I take before next weeks game)

Also, we really need to get Rawls more carries

I would post in this thread if you're drinking heavily to celebreate the win and looking for some more fun tonight with Nebraska/Ohio, the "snowflake thread" if you have some totally unique thought that the internet just couldn't do without (you're the last person that comes to mind with that description) or the "evening game thread" if you're into talking about the 2.992 games on the various channels tonight.

Whatever your choice, cheers M-Wolverine, and Go Blue!

That not only did 3 late games threads start simultaneously, but that they ALL were getting posts.

This may be one of the all time great board on the fly edit changes to keep it going, though.

I got negged on the last post and I think that might have to do with what I said about you personally. For the record, I thought I was being complementary when I said M-Wolverine wouldn't have snowflake thoughts. It's why a lot of us like his posts.

Michigan did what Michigan wanted to do...

It was refreshing to see US dictating on both sides of the ball rather than reacting. I've felt all year we've been adjusting too much rather than playing our game.

I think Borges called this game PERFECTLY. And this comes from someone who was sick after the ND game because the play calling was so damn bad. On the road Borges has to have a little more Lloyd Carr in him - stick to your guns...fuck the cute shit. He did just that.

Safe passes to keep the chains moving and get Denard in rhythm, variations in the running game to keep the other team off balance. On the road, just get first downs...don't worry about anything else. Actually, just stay "ahead" of the down and distance. THAT is when we're most effective.

Borges did that ALL day, in fact, I don't know if we were in too many "and long" situations that didn't have to do with a penalty.

Along those same lines, Mattison called a BEAUTIFUL game, he had those guys ready for every screen, every slant. It looked like we had 12 guys on the field at times. Rarely were we outnumbered on the edge...very good performance by the defense.

I do wish we could've gotten Fitz more room, we've got to work on some designed run plays (rather than zone-reads) that get him going. I thought Rawls should've played MUCH earlier, but if the coaches were trying to get Fitz the ball --- I can live with that, no question. In the future though, Rawls needs to get the ball more often (Norfleet too).

It wasn't perfect, but it was Michigan Football. We did exactly what we needed to do, there shouldn't be ANY complaining after this win.

Good day all around. The boys in blue took care of business, and Valverde just retired three straight to secure the W. I thing a little Red Stag and Cherry Coke is in order.

Had some Fat Tire, Bells Amber, and Anchor Steam during the game and heading to Goose Island for a quick round then a party with some Michigan grads in Chicago. Thinking some Dales Pale Ale or Revolution Anti-Hero may accompany us...
