Submitted by MGlobules on

Miguel Cabrera is officially in the lineup for tonight's game against KC:

Looks like the start time is 8:10:

Hopeful signs: Cabrera is at .331, Trout seven points back. Hamilton needs two homers to tie Cabrera. Both players will have wrapped up their games before the Tigers commence play, so we will know where we stand.

Do your commenting, hopefully celebrating, here. Updates, shifting percentages and tallies all appreciated, since I will be wrapped up with an eight-year-old who likes to go to bed at midnight, only looking in from time to time.

Here's my strategy if I'm a Seattle pitcher pitching to Trout:  throw him nothing but garbage.  To him, a walk is almost as bad as an out, considering his team is out of contention and all he has to play for is the batting title.  So Trout is gonna swing at everything.  He needs 5 hits, and every at bat is crucial.  Really hard to go 5 for 5 with a walk, unless the game goes into extras.

So he's going to swing at every pitch, certainly every pitch once he has a couple balls.  Throw him nothing but trash, and he'll be the easiest out of the year.

Yeah, I'm saying worst case scenario, but that's what Trout needs to plan for, because any other way and he's already dead in the water.  If Cabby goes 0-3 and Trout goes 5-5 or 5-6, Trout takes it.

Now, if Trout is 2-2 or 3-3 at some point, I say let Cabby sit.

Encarnacion isn't in the lineup tonight.

Hypothetically Dunn could get 4 and Dunn/the White Sox are just big enough dicks to actually actively try to do that for the sole purpose of denying Miggy.

Rangers are getting shellacked.  The Hamilton threat is pretty much over.

And with Trout needing a 6 for 6 night the Tigers really should just sit Cabrera.  Think of it this way, if Miggy get hurt tonight and has to miss playoff time then we'll never hear the end of how stupid it was to play him just because of some macho BS.

It's hilarious - that's actually really bad for him.  His only shot is to get 5 hits tonight, and it will be a lot harder to do that now, since it will take 6 plate appearances which he likely won't get. I'll crack up if he goes 4-4 now.

Holy shit!  Triple Crown talk aside for a moment...but the A's are going to win the West.  Damn!

Would love it if the O's could put the Yanks in the wild card too.  A Yanks-Ranger one game playoff, who would have seen that happening.

Trout 0-1 + a HBP thru 3. Cabrera does not need to play, he wins if he sits. (Probably wins if he does no worse than 0 for 2.)

Side note to the Triple Crown, Weaver can kiss his chances at the Cy Young goodbye after giving up 2 runs in the first and getting pulled, it's now just JV or David Price.
