War Against Wife Day

Submitted by jamiemac on

I dont get this Wife Day crap. Come on people. We only get 12-13 CFB Saturdays a year. Dont y'all do enough on the other three dozen Saturdays and the rest of the year where you dont need to ignore one of the rare full days of college football we get during the year?

So, strike a blow against Wife Day. Join me in my War Against Wife Day and watch as much college football tomorrow as possible. Its truly the patriotic thing to do. And, while you're at it, maybe gamble on a game or two. Speaking of which, here's a link to my Big 10 picks over at the JCB. Check it out.

But who do you like tomorrow in league play against these spreads:

Minny at Iowa, Iowa -7

PSU at Illinois, PSU -1

IU at NW, NW -11.5

OSU at MSU, MSU -3

Wisco at Brasker, Brasker -11.5

Who you got in these or any other games this weekend.

I have a couple unders.

Oregon @ Washington State at 73.5 and Baylor at West Virginia at 82.5.

I like to go by a general rule that a big o/u and a competitive mismatch means take the under.  I don't think Wazzu or Baylor can hold up their end of the bargain to get to those numbers and Oregon and WVU back off when they get up big.

HOWEVA, I'm lucky enough that Ms. ND Sux LOVES her some college fb, so I get to satisfy both objectives.  She's not the 'wife', but close enough.

She also HATES THE F#UCK out of MSU, ever since the 2010 game in AA when their fans chanted 'go green - go white' all the way down Main St after the game.  Every time they yelled "go green", we responded with "GO HOME".

1.  Recruit top talent, with character being the absolute most important thing you look for.   She may be beautiful and/or cook, but if she doesn't have character she'll leave you for another team and take half of your franchise with her.  Let the recruits know what your team culture is - honor, loyalty, courage and perseverance and make sure you lead in that fashion so she'll know you mean what you say.  Try to avoid boning the recruits, too.   It clouds your judgment...

2.   Once on the team, don't ever treat them like purple-face, f-bomb dropping, b. kelly treats his players.   You are the head coach/OC/DC/QB etc.  You show respect and patience, never ever raise your voice or name call, and make sure she knows thats the way it works.  Come alongside your bride and work with her on the issues of the day.   She tells you she can't make that block, well then, let's scheme the play a different way and figure a way for it to work.    Your not a robot, it's not like there'll never be moments of irritation and/or impatience, but make those infrequent and measured by minutes.

As it says in proverbs, better to live on the roof of your house than to marry a contentious woman.

Do these things (and more, but the post is long already) and you won't have to have 'Wife Day', or if you do, it'll be fun and she'll sit in the deer blind/river/couch with you and have fun.

So, I've got this buddy, my best friend actually, who used to attend every home game and watch every road game with me. Anyway, he got married to a Sparty and she has put the clamps on him doing much of anything with me at all. She makes sure that she plans events for him on saturdays when M is playing. Well, her plan backfired today. She figured that since we have a bye, she would make plans with her mom and give him tne day off. Bad ideas jeans sweetheart. He called me up and has planned an all day blower of football games, beer, and chicken wings. My wife is cool and goes to all the games with me, so she's on board with a day to herself as well. Looks like her little plan has failed and justice will be served. Although we both cringe at the idea of rooting for the Buckeyes, it will be pretty easy to root against her Spartans as we enjoy the day together. Go Blue... Bros before Hoes!

1) Either go on line to "Wifey.com" and tell your wife you have some ideas to show her (then run for cover!)

or

2) follow this link:

and go to WTKA.com (or your 1050-AM on your radio in the Ann Arbor area) and yell along with Bob Ufer as he describes the action in a re-broadcast of the 1979 game vs. state (starts in a few minutes at noon EDT).  For added fun, quickly find a bicycle horn and join in with Ufe as he blows the "General Bo George Patton Scoring Horn" after each Michigan score.  Then duck and run for cover!
