[edit] OT: National Drink Beer Day

Submitted by Blue since 82 on

Title says it all.  Today is National Drink a Beer Day.  How will you celebrate?

At work, where beer is not allowed, a couple of us bought a bunch of Root Beer to pass around the office.  Tonight, I need suggestions because I am shockingly out of beer at home!

Edit:  It was pointed out that it is National Drink Beer Day...not a Beer!

Some good choices so far. I'm particularly fond of Founders Breakfast Stout, Pumpking, and Arrogant Bastard for this time of the year.

My choice for the evening will be either Tumbler from Sierra Nevada or Red Hoptober from New Belgium. (and of course by either, I mean both)

For those living in Philadelphia, Yuengling is giving away FREE BEER in bars across the city starting at 6:30. Limit one beer per bar. I shall be going bar hopping.

If you're near Chicago and haven't tried out the stuff by Two Brothers you're missing out.  They're a microbrewery in Warren (IL) and they make some great stuff.  Personal faves of mine are the Dog Days summer ale so that's out of season sadly, and their Domaine Dupage french wheat ale.  Highly recommend them, they have like 10-12 varieties to choose from.  Costco carries a variety pack and Trader Joes carries them too.

I am on my way to the D from Cleveland for a weekend-long bachelor party and will be hammered the whole time. This is my first visit to the D (lived in the Greater Cleveland area all my life).

Gotta represent the Mitten. Dragon's Milk by New Holland. In my prime I drank two 22's and switched to swill. Now that much would put me in the ER. Great stuff though for any one looking for high gravity beer.

This holiday sounds like it would fit in well with National Eat Something Day and National Breathe Day.  Anyway I am having the last of the Summer Shandys.  Farewell summer.  I might follow that up with a Traverse City Cherry Wheat from Atwater.

I have 32 different kinds of beer in my house (to be fair a good amount is off limits because I am cellaring it) which makes choosing what to have difficult. I think I will have a Surly Coffee Bender and a Founders Breakfast Stout.
