Not gunna win many games when your 2-5 in the redzone. With 2 FGs.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
6 turnovers and we lost by 1 td. Im very dissapointed, but the game was still close.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
Doesn't matter if you lose by 1 or 50. A loss is a loss. In 10 yrs no one will remember the score. They will remember the outcome.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
People will remember. I still remember 1989, and not only how we lost but the fact was we should have won. I still remember 1990--the index card game. Trust me, many will remember possessing the ball the entire game, turning it over 6 times and losing by 7. Alabama I will just remember as a loss.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:33 AM ^
Yep. '88 was brutal, too, and that was the year ND won it all--we were sooooo close to both them and Miami, and won the Rose Bowl. That makes a difference.
I think quite a bit more fondly of the '04 season than some other years simply because, with key freshmen, Michigan came *that* close to beating Texas in the Rose Bowl, and we know how good that team turned out the next year.
If Michigan wins the B1G this year it will matter that the game tonight was winnable.

probly safe to change your avitar now.

Holy crap this sucks.

Heck the Gophers are 4-0
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
Terrible spot. Stupid flag on the whistle. Just remind yourselves, 6 TO. We didn't deserve it. Feel bad for the D though, they played great...
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
Couldn't agree more. Defense played exceptional considering the field positions they were constantly put in.
The D is still very young and raw. I'm hopeful for the future once Mattison tutors these kids a couple years.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
DO you really think that this team will beat Stanford, OU, or SC? I don't.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
So will everyone credit the Notre Dame defense with that? I don't.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
They are losing to K State at home.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
Why can't I have alcohol while deployed. I feel the need to drink myself to sleep.

Horrible game. Horrible QB play. Love Denard and the last two years we won because of him, this year we lost because of him. Got to take the good with the bad my friend.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:06 AM ^
As much as I love Denard and watching him play and electrify the field, I find myself wanting to skip the rest of the season to the beginning of the 2013 season where we first get an accurate portrayal of Brady Hoke with his first true west coast offense and who will be the future of Michigan in Shane Morris. But you are absolutely right. We need to look not at the past but at the good that is bound to come for the rest of this season, and the reason we won last season in Denard. Go Blue!!!
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:36 AM ^
Balanced view.
Unfortunately, Denard will be remembered in the future as an exciting curiosity rather than a truly transcendant player. We'll love him, of course, but to the rest of the world he will be something like Antwaan Randle El or Woodrow Dantzler, tremendous players who never quite hit the next level.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
It's not like ND was very impressive. In fact, they were dominated in several aspects of the game. Probably 9-3 at best. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what else you do if you turn the ball over 6 times.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
This is all your fault: You just had to do this this: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-worst-qb-performances-all-time
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:42 PM ^
I had the same thought after INT # (4?)...
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
We outplayed them man. Frustrating game.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
240 yards and 13 points allowed and we still come out short.
Goddammit.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
A postive though. The D played its best game of the year.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
On third and eight.
September 23rd, 2012 at 4:19 AM ^
That is a positive, but Notre Dame's pathetic offense had something to do with that.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
Michigans offense goes as Denard goes and tonight he was terrible. Overall Michigan is not an elite team, not even close. Hoke has a lot work to do to get this program to a top 10 team Nationally
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:04 PM ^
Done a lot of that work. Two years and the recruits he has coming in. We'll be fine.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:06 PM ^
I think we're closer than you think. Through last year and this year the coaches have shown they were able to improve the team throughout the season. I thought the D played great especially considering the positions they were put in, and all the freshmen we're playing. As long as the staff is able to curb attrition seen on during RR, I think we'll be alright. The thing I'm worried a about is getting offensive players who can actually make Borges' system work. Cause it's not pretty right now.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
We simply gave the game away with turnovers. We deserved to lose that one. All we know now that we didn't know before the game is Denard makes just as many bad decisions as he did last year.
We still have no running game outside of Denard. This is truly going to be an up and down season.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:04 PM ^
How are they better? Stats don't agree we dominated them and if Denard doesn't throw 3 balls right to ND players we probably win by 2 TDs. ND is overrated and will get exposed soon and badly
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
had to return ND to glory because that is all we'll hear about for the rest fo the week. At least, Denard is being groomed for the NFL.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
For the NFL you say? He just doesn't make the right decisions. He's clairvoyant running the ball, but had no clue where to put it when passing. I hope he can catch.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
Pretty sure he means groomed for the nfl as a running back
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
Notre Dame, as average as they are a football team, will go to the BCS this year and it will be horrendous to endure ND fans the rest of the season. I think they'll beat SC.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
Love the effort on D today. I dug the playcalling by Borges as well. Too bad Denard is still mistake prone. I still see our future potential.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
For a second i really thought i has a gnat on my monitor and was about to crush it
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:11 PM ^
Agreed, I think Borges and mattison both called pretty good games tonight. I think if v smith could've hit dileo instead of throwing the pick we would've had a completely different ballgame
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
The sky is falling!!!
And this is why scheduling Bama was really really stupid (or just another reason). 3-1 is a lot better than 2-2. Oh well. A bigger problem I think is that I don't think we have any QBs next year who can do what Borges is going to ask them to do either.
Good news: I still think we can win the B1G. God this league sucks.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
I'm really hoping Borges isn't around this time next year...
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
C'mon, man. Borges didn't turn the ball over. I still won't neg you, as I cannot neg Always Sunny.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:48 PM ^
...here's a Charlie gif for ya!
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:11 PM ^
I am really hoping that you aren't around this time next year . . .
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:37 PM ^
I'm clearly not a troll, as is referenced by my karma of 2 and the fact that I can count on my fingers every post of mine that's gotten flagged as -1 since we started doing this fake points thing. I'm just a guy who's very pissed off and in an effort to come to grips with what just happened, I've latched on tightly the to the trick play that turned into a Vince Smith int in the redzone. Am I overexaggerating? Clearly. But regardless, I still don't like Borges and can't my mind of off what might have been if he had kept to what was working on that drive.
September 23rd, 2012 at 2:39 AM ^
Why does everyone not understand that Borges IS NOT A SPREAD OC?? He is doing the best with what he was got and personally I think he has done a damn good job with Denard. Tonight was not systematic flaws, it was flaws woth Denard which we all know of. When Borges gets the tools he needs, I have just as much confidence in him as Hoke does, which is more than enough for me.
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:08 PM ^
Outside of Alabama, I'm thinking college football in general isn't terribly impressive this year. And when you throw in replacement refs, the NFL blows, too.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
You know what? Sure, the loss sucks, but we had 5 turnovers (not counting the INT at end of half) and were in a position to win on the road against a legitimately good team and only lost by 7. Yeah, I'm not happy, but on any other night when Denard doesn't have the worst game of his life we probably win this; and ND at this point is going to be better than any other team we play the rest of the year - yes, I said it.
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
It was actually a respectible game... nothing dirty. B10 championship here we come.
