Hope For Pahokee #Eating Kickstarter Daily Update - 12 Days Left to Pledge!
Yet another great day and many more thank you's are in order for the mgoblog community. In the last 24 hours, Martavious Odoms' #Eating Kick Starter raised an additional $3,400 dollars, pledged by 87 new backers! Just 48 hours ago, it was looking bleak at best that the project would get funded. But with the help of all of you MGoUsers who have participated, the current toal pledged is now slightly over 23k. At this pace we've established the last couple days, we'll get to the goal in 5 days! Still, no complacency! Many of you have continued to spread the message through other internet outlets, and of course that is amazingly awesome!
If you haven't pledged and you have the means, check it out and hopefully you'll consider getting on board with this amazing cause organized by one of our own, a great Michigan man. And for your awesomeness, you'll even get to select from a pretty cool assortment of t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, and other apparel with great designs from the Robot Hustle Crew. Even if you swore you'd never donate to a charity again, these rewards are worth the donation in and of themselves!

If you can't afford to donate and still want to help, spreading the word to family, friends, and other internet communities will do amazing things for this cause.

can name a part of the garden "Butterfield"!
Nice job keeping the momentum going. Mgoblog at its best.

Just trying to do my part, I made a $30 donation but without the financial means that some others have, this is how I figured I could help out the most. Definitely no need to thank or recognize me, it's a great team effort.

Great cause and great rewards. $35 for those shorts is a more reasonable price than I'd pay for some generic pair at Footlocker, Champs, etc. Urban gardening is the way to go. All the best Tae!

If the Mgoblog fanbase can raise over $50,000 to kickstart a magazine that already exists several times over, then I have faith that we can raise $35,000 to help a community that is in need of resources and leaders like Martavious Odoms.

This is such a great cause, I hope everyone can give what they can - even 5 bucks. Think about it - 5-10 bucks on a credit card is almost nothing. Think about all of the things you spend 5-10 bucks on weekly that aren't as worth it as #EATING. Obviously if you can give more, that's great too.
I have a hunch that there are a few bigger time donors who are waiting until the last day to put in their donation. As in, waiting to see how much he needs and then getting him there. I'm not exactly sure who those guys are, but it's probably either M guys in the league who Tae knows or guys like Hoke, Borges and DB.

Exactly at $24K! Really excited about this project and that "football heart" t-shirt!

for the updates.
Its things like this that make me proud to be a part of this community.
During my younger years I was frequestly questioned, mostly by detractors and/or spartan fans, about what "The Michigan Difference" even meant. I used to be a little more naive than I am now and would boast about the academic achievements and standards set by the university. Although those are both valid arguments and something we should all be very proud of, as I grow older and more engrossed into Michigan and all it offers I see that, as much as the academic side of the university is extraordinary, its projects like THIS and situations like the Brock Mealer accident and rehabilitation and the endless support and dedication to the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital among many others that make this university far superior to the rest of them. THIS is The Michigan Difference and I, for one, am damn proud to be a part of it.
Keep up the great work guys! Spread this project through your media outlets and get this project funded!

If so, $24,055 / 587 backers ~= $41...which is impressive. Glad that such a great cause is on the path to getting the support it deserves!

it is all from the backers.

I'm the average donor! Well, almost. I pledged 40.

Thanks for posting this. The repeated reminders certainly helped me remember to sign up. After the kickstarter campaign, I hope Odoms can get 501(c) status to get encourage tax deductible donations.

This is an AWESOME idea, and hopefully Tae and the other organizers are looking into this right now to plan ahead.
I would cheerfully donate a significant amount if Tae's organization received 501c status (no cool story bro look at my bling, but I do need to decrease my taxable income for 2012 and it would be awesome if I could help out the #eating campaign to boot).

If the funding looks short close to the deadline someone needs to call the Miami Dolphins office and demand a meeting with the boss. Good publicity for them as well.

I like how you think.

This better be sucessful. I want my #Eating shirt.

You can also just buy one from the Hope for Pahokee site with the proceeds going to the charity.

It's good that Butterfield is keeping this on top. It's always awesome to see the work we as alums are doing around the world. I really hope we can help Odoms get to his goal.

I endorse these daily updates/reminders.

I pledged $35, which gets the shorts. When do you choose the size? I love the #Eating idea, hopefullly we fund it!
September 14th, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
After the project is funded you'll receive a email survey requesting size info, mailing address etc.
September 14th, 2012 at 6:44 PM ^
Over 25K now - that's huge. Less than 10 grand to go!
September 14th, 2012 at 6:50 PM ^
I was getting worried that we had lost steam. Really awesome couple of days. Only $10K left! Gotta push this thing over the top!
September 14th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
I was trying to figure the math earlier when it was at about $23,000. I figured it would reach the goal, but just narrowly. Now that it's already up over $25,000, I have a lot more faith it'll get accomplished plus some. Like many others have said, even if you can't donate, at least share it with others who may be able to.
I do have a question though. It says if you pledge $25 or more you get the basic eating shirt, but I'd like the Hope For Pahokee shirt. Is that an option somewhere? I can't seem to find it at all! I know it says in the rewards thing on the left, choice: Eating or Hope For Pahokee, so does that mean for the $25 option is a choice between Eating or Hope For Pahokee? Thanks for anyone who can help.

Hmm... Good question. There is a message board section on the hope for Pahokee kickstarter page, that's probably your best bet to figure out the answer. I'm not officially affiliated with HfP, sorry I can't be more help.

I asked that question a few days and the response was:

My $20 bucks. I am down here in FLA, I will have to go and try to volunteer at the garden someday when it gets started. Go Blue!

Donated. Now, when will Tae be a guest mgoanalyst on the mgopodcast?
