Brady Hoke stopped by our tailgate this week!

Submitted by mGrowOld on

This year our tailgate got moved from our location of the past 15 years in front of Crisler to the hill behind the north end zone due to construction.  Like any change this one offers some good things (Canadian tailgating neighbors who play uptempo music loudly and have an open mike) and some bad things (no more clean, heated,  inside bathrooms in the mobile home).

Anyways about 90 minutes after the game Saturday, when the last beers and brats had been consumed and we were just starting to pack up, Hoke stopped by to say hello and ask us what we thought of the game.  He hit all the tailgates left around on his way out and made a point of taking pictures with anyone who wanted one (my nephew is pictured) and generally being just as good of a guy in person to the average fan as he seems in press conferences.

I think I like our new spot a lot!

Edit: On my computer a picture of Hoke with my nephew appears but for reasons my limited technical ability cannot fathom it doesnt appear on anyone elses so I changed the original content of the post.

Edt to Edit: Thanks to Electric Boogaloo my pic now actually appears on computer screens other than my own.

Oh you tease . . . you mention the word "point" without telling us if he pointed at anyone!  Was anyone the proud recipient of a Hokepoint?

Also - the curves in those pictures do not strike me as . . . I don't know.  The paradox of contemporary woman is that, despite what bullshit ads/media/etc. tell them, it's in fact fat deposits (among other things) that make them attractive and distinguish them from us [though I'll say I have dynamite upper/inner thighs] - of course, proportionate and shapely fat deposits with gentle/subtle curves (IMHE).  Take all the fat deposits away and I'm looking at a slightly different version of my much younger self, or in this case . . . something altogether different.  Absent the wonderful manly inner thigh, which really is our best part as men.

Indeed, to each his own comrades.  I'm a subtlety dude.  To the non-subtlety dudes - knock yourselves out.

mgrowold, FTR - I was never upset/obsessed with your old avatar. In fact, iirc, I liked it better than your current one. I wonder if we're the only posters with our wives in our avatars?

I'm glad your wife takes good care of herself, and gladder yet that you both love each other. May it continue through thick and thin.

I myself am the chubby one. 52 yrs, 6'3", was 316 pounds. Have been losing a pound or so a week, with a goal of getting down to 200, but have a long way to go. One day, one week, one pound at a time. Thankfully, I'm healthy as a horse, love veggies, and mostly have just had to cut most of the bread and pasta carbs and cheese out of my diet. It also helps that I've been exercising a lot more. My better half is border line underweight, and has been the same size for many, many years, but is not fit. Hope your own health and weight and exercise is going well.

Go blue, and maybe I'll see you at a tailgate sometime. Are you going to ND? That's probably my only game this year, unless I end up going to Ohio. My job doesn't allow me to go to hardly any Michigan games this year. Well, I could go to the Michigan State game, but don't have tickets and can't pay market rate for them.

Regardless, your post is awesome . . . what a great way to end the game! You should have taken a picture with Hoke, and you could have added it to your wife's site!

I would cut them some slack; she expresses legimitate medical reasons to be so dedicated to fitness & health.

Whether or not that were the case, it really skeeves me out to have MGoBloggers openly criticizing another poster's family members appearance, not to mention discussing the desirability/attractiveness of a family member's tits.  I think we're above that and have forgotten ourselves momentarily.

Thanks for the kind words and support.  Yes, we do have legitimate reasons for being dedicated to health and fitness.  I'm 53 and was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer four years ago.  While in my Lymph Nodes it is currently in remission and everything I've read said your diet and health are a major factor in controlling my desease.

My wife, while being insanely fit, is actually legally blind in one eye and has to be tested for potential sight loss in the other every three months.  She had her retina's detach during child birth and the bleeding and scarring left her a big blank spot in the middle of her field of vision.

And she has her site cause she wanted to somehow help people lose weight and get in shape because, unlike me, she has a genuine concern for complete strangers. She'll read a story about a random person on the internet who got hurt or killed and will start crying for them.

Anyways enough personal stuff.  I just wanted you to know I appreciate what you said.

But if the attention is troubling maybe one should put pics of family members in avatars and link to websites where said family members are scantily clad.  If you're running a website where ONE of the reasons is to show off your body in a state of minimal dress, you're bragging about it and opening yourself up to comments, both positive and negative, about it.

It's her sight dude.  I have zero to do with the content or anything else.

And it's me versus the picture of Hoke and my nephew right now and I'm losing badly so I'm kinda busy.......

So, embarrassing question... How do get a photo from my PC and use it here? I know that everyone knows, and it's already been explained, I'm just wondering. Do I have to use Flickr or something similar? Any help would be appreciated.

you can just upload it from your PC. Otherwise, bdsisme has it exact.

If you want to try something a bit different (I think it's easier), it's also possible to just drag the picture into a post from Facebook or another image hosting site. I do it all the time with Google Images and have confirmed it works with Facebook.

I believe one needs to donate major dollars to the University for the spot.  They guy who hosts ours is a Michigan dental school grad has about 10 season tickets on the 40.  I have been fortunate enough to be included in the party for many years but can claim no ownership to the spot itself.

This is 110% pure awesomeness. Must have been a memorable experience to have him just show up unannounced like that.

The one minor annoyance I had with Hoke was that I got the impression he didn't really care too much about the fans (return of 'The Fort' and all). This post has obliterated that notion.

Again, kudos.

Yeah, I guess I was confusing openness to the media with openness to fans. I also met Hoke at an alumni event once and he is indeed a really nice guy; when I said that I thought he "didn't care" about fans, what I meant was that I didn't think he would go out of his way to be welcoming to fans. But this post has totally disavailed me of that notion.
