The Nard Dogg

Submitted by CheckOutMyRod on

I wasnt too sure about D. Robinson at qb when he first signed but after watching some videos and hearing from people that have watched him I'm pretty pumped about him. Sounds like he needs to work on his throwing still but it sounds like he's better than alot of people first thought. I hope we see some plays with him and Tate in on the same play. He is way too fast not to have on the field for 10 to 15 plays.

Does anyone know if he is open to moving to the slot if tate is the starter and with Gardner coming in next year? Of course i could be way off and he could be the starter at qb for years. I just hope he see's the field one way or another.

These questions have been covered many times in other threads, and my personal opinion is that coach Rod is taking a wait and see approach.

Still, +1 to you for the Office reference. In fact, I will probably +1 just about any Office reference because that show is hilarious.

Nard Dog(g) is not cool. It's not even cool for Andy Bernard's character, because that character is not cool. It's right in the Office wheelhouse to have a character (1) give himself a nickname, that (2) vaguely references being enthusiastic about men's nuts. NTTAWTT.

I don't see what's wrong with Shoelace. For one thing, it is actually his fucking nickname. For another, it has a certain pre-Depression era baseball je ne sais quoi to it.

The nickname is Shoelace. Or Jerk Store.

Something about the way you tied together "Fucking nickname" and "je ne sais quoi" just makes sense.

I'm climbing aboard the negging of all "Nard Dogg" reference bandwagon.

While we're on the subject...apparently Boubacar is not fond of the nickname "Boo Boo" so those will be getting negbombed as well. If the "insiders" at certain websites that shall not be named are to be trusted, that is.

I've been reading this blog for a year now. Sadly, Cissoko's nickname is what prompted me to finally make an account and post. Please hear out my train of thought:

Boubacar > Boobies > Titties.

Simple, elegant (not so much..) and rolls off the tongue. Yes, it may be inappropriate, but man, it's fun to say. Scream it next time he prepares to return a kick as the ball reaches its apex. I'm sure Titties himself would also welcome this change (hopefully not with open arms, but closed arms grasping a football).

I'm glad my mgoblog membership has now started on such a high note.

I think we are having a clash of Office watchers and non-Office watchers(or maybe non-appreciaters)

Of course Nard Dogg is not a cool nickname, it isn't supposed to be, it was made up by an uncool person who wants to be cool which is why it is funny.

No one is saying Nard Dogg isn't funny on the Office. I'm pretty sure I get that it isn't supposed to be cool for him. The Office character.

But I don't get the joke when it's applied to D-Rob. "Let's call him an uncool nickname because it's funny because it's funny on this one show and so it's funny if applied out of context to this other dude." Wha...?

In other words, now I'm not objecting to the use of the nickname, I'm objecting to the claim that it's somehow funny to use it with D-Rob. It's like when Tim the Dentist converted to Judaism and started making all these schlocky Borscht-belt jokes. Jerry was offended not as a Jew, but as a comedian.

The actions performed create the nickname, and if it fits, great.

Shoelace is perfect for the time being, after Sept. 5 when he displays wheels faster than the RoadRunner or Wiley Coyote on a rocket-powered sled on rails, then it should probably change.

Boo-boo is simply bad. I think he should Cisko would be better until his play elicits something better.

Gary De-Nard-o and his prediction that Shoelace would eventually be the starting QB.

Maybe you could transfer Nard-Dogg nickname to him.
