Zoltan, The Glick, and Cowboys Stadium

Submitted by Frank Drebin on
While watching the Cowboys-Titans game last night, I saw the soon to be cut kicker of the Titans hit the huge TV/Scoreboard over the Cowboys new field. They said this is 90' in the air, and I began to think that the Glick is only 85', and Zoltan the Space Emperor has been trying to hit the ceiling, but has been unsuccessful. Many kickers are saying that they will be able to hit the scoreboard and that 90' is too low. It made me think that if Zoltan can't hit 85', but many punters in the NFL will be hitting the scoreboard at 90', how is he the top rated punter in college? I know punting is not all about kicking the ball straight up, but more outward for height and distance, but I did find it odd that everyone thinks the Glick ceiling isn't within reach of kickers, yet this new scoreboard is. Just a thought.

Your 2009 Ray Guy Award winner did hit the roof at Glick. I think the best thing for Jerry Jones to do is to replace the video boards with smaller models. I'll generously spend .000001 cents on the dollar to get them off his hands. (They are used you know.)

You're right. The only way we'll have the best punter (or kicker) in college football is if we make Portuguese a major, and scout 3rd tier Brazilian soccer players to join our special teams.

I had to laugh my ass off when I saw that on TV last night. $1.2 BILLION they spent on that new monstrosity, and OOOOPS. LOL. As for Zoltan The Astounding, if he's the top-rated punter, it's likely because of where the ball ends up on the ground rather than in the air.

That's the total cost of the stadium... Was at the stadium last night (which is so out of control, it's not funny!) Both punters hit the scoreboard during warm-ups. Thing is, when they try to hit it, the punt is virtually vertical. I bet it wouldn't have carried 30 yards. Blue: Where are you out of? Where did you sit (season tickets)?

i was grooving on those ground-level suites, what a superior concept. also surprised to see so many empty seats, sucks they didn't sell out the opening game even if it was only preseason.

How did stadiums become so expensive? New Yankee Stadium apparently cost $1.5 billion, Cowboys Stadium cost $1.2 billion . . . where is all this money going? This is 3-4 times what the new Detroit stadiums cost. Are they that much more advanced?
