What positives can we take away from the Alabama game?

Submitted by UMgradMSUdad on

The game was not pretty; it was a beat down.  I do, however, see some areas for hope.

Dennis Norfleet looks to be an emerging star on kick off returns.

The team fought to the end.

We got this loss in our first game, and it's the most talented team on our schedule.

Any other positives you can think of?

Why, because he didn't schedule savannah state so Michigan could win 84-0 like oklahoma state?

Get over yourself, Michigan has gotten better and by playing a team like this. They won't face a team with that kind of talent stock this year again.

We didn't, and won't, get anything out of this game, at all, nothing. Now, that doesn't mean you're wrong that scheduling the game was good, I'm neutral on that decision. But getting humuliated, outclassed and demoralized probably isn't going to teach us much. Maybe I'm wrong, dunno...

Don't we generally praise MSU hoops for going and playing the UNCs and Dukes of the world early in the season to make them a more battle-tested team?  MSU sometimes get beat down in those games (e.g., aircraft carrier classic last year), but it gets them great national exposure and gives the players a chance to measure themselves against one of the great teams in the country.  Same thing applies here.  Sure, it sucks to lose the game, but I hope we keep playing them -- eventually the talent level will even out and we will win those games.  I also think playing in this game will make us better / tougher this year against the rest of our schedule.

Also, Oregon got beaten down by LSU last year and would have been in the BCS championship talks had they run the table in the Pac12.  This game had no effect on our B1G championship / Rose Bowl aspirations and if we run the table we will be in the BCS championship talks.

Musberger actually said something i agreed with..  Norfleet will return a kick for a TD before the b1g ten season starts..  or at least during the season..

Kid truly will be special.. id prefer to see him in the RB rotation sooner than later..  he has some moves..

I'll take 60+ yard punts all night long. I could do with fewer terrible penalties for running past the returner being called as interference, all while practically being ridden from behind into said returner.

Positives: Gallon is really good, Norfleet shows promise, our biggest defensive problem was tackling NOT being out of position. We have 11 guaranteed games left to watch.

Negatives (not asked for but here they are anyway): Key injuries. Half the freshman class burning red-shirts tonight. Injuries.

Side note: Why do referees from every conference hate us so much?
