What positives can we take away from the Alabama game?
The game was not pretty; it was a beat down. I do, however, see some areas for hope.
Dennis Norfleet looks to be an emerging star on kick off returns.
The team fought to the end.
We got this loss in our first game, and it's the most talented team on our schedule.
Any other positives you can think of?

We don't have to play Alabama again anytime soon.

Nah, they'll still go to the title game. It happened last year.

Campbell got a sack
Some freshmen got snaps on national stage
Shane Morris will be here next year Along with a ton of other talent
Air force will be tough minus Lewan and plus this mentally challenging loss.

What have you heard about Lewan?
September 2nd, 2012 at 12:26 AM ^
I've heard he's got a fingerstache and rolls in a sweet twosie.
September 2nd, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
Fingerstache is awesome
(what He said!)September 2nd, 2012 at 12:09 AM ^
At least that is what Karsch reported.

Their lines might have been better overall, but UM was the only team to walk out of the game with QB sacks.

Norfleet looks great, Wile is great, the OL looks great in pass pro, Hagerup had a great average (mediocre net), Campbell wasn't too bad, tons of freshmen got experience (that's the optimistic way of saying that lots of starters were yanked for poor performance), Gallon is solid, and Gardner will be great once he runs better routes.
September 1st, 2012 at 11:53 PM ^
I feel like our unwillingness to spread out the punt team leads to his mediocre net... We're the only team in the country that doesn't have 5 guys trying to down punts.
September 2nd, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
Agreed. Not sure what the thinking is on that. It should probably be illegal to have that many gunners and yet Michigan goes with 2.

Yeah, forgot about this aspect. Was looking at Stubhub all week. So glad I didn't buy tickets.

away from Arlington and chose not to go. Glad I didn't so I could curl up in a ball in my living room.

No excuses, Michigan stank up the field, but I really dislike the offensive gameplan. It went out of its way to have Denard throw...he isn't a good throwing QB. He never was, nor will he be. I am disappointed in the fact that Borges couldn't or wouldn't adjust. There are no positives to take from this game. Nothing. There was so little we did right it was embarassing on a national scale.

This, x 10. They didn't even try to use Denard at what he does best. They conceded the run to Bama's Defense and tried to throw it no matter what. Never even tried to establish a run game.
September 2nd, 2012 at 1:37 AM ^
When you are down by three touchdowns in the first quarter, I think it's time to concede the run.

1. I have a wife, a son, and one on the way.
2. I made the smart choice of only buying a six pack for the game. I would drink until there was nothing to drink otherwise.
3. I'm pretty sure nobody on our team sustained life threatining injuries.
Those are the only positives.
September 1st, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
I'm confused. You have one what on the way? A wife or a son?
September 2nd, 2012 at 12:15 AM ^
Hopefully another wife - would be a plus

Special Teams in general (Gibbons, Wile, Hagerup, Norfleet, all looked really good).
Errm. Kwiatkowski caught a pass. So maybe him.

know how far they have to go to compete with the best. A long way, obviously. If they come out and practice and play hard next week, that will be a positive and suggest some good senior leadership.

Coaches and players saw upclose what an elite team looks like. We have a looong way to go. There are no illusions.
September 2nd, 2012 at 1:20 AM ^
ain't no positive!
Go Blue!
September 1st, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
Hagerup punted well.
Norfleet returned well.
The recievers got open against good coverage.
Fitz will return.
We won't play anyone nearly as good as Bama the rest of the season.
Wisconsin barely squeaked past Northern Iowa, Iowa barely squeaked past Northern Illinois, MSU had their hands full with a depleted Boise State.
We can still end the season in Pasadena.
This could be the end of clowniformz. (please, God)

I'm thinking along these lines as well. They didn't run Denard alot because they didn't want to get him killed. We are nowhere near Alabama's level right now but we do have a good shot to win the B1G so they want to go for that.

can actually have a negative impact on a team's ability to win their conference in the future. Recruits watch TV.
September 1st, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
I got a couple:
-Hagerup was excellent
-Kick returns were good
-Recievers were able to get behind the Tide secondary
-Michigan converted a number on 3rd and shorts on the ground
-Alabama was 4-11 on third down
-McCarron was only about 50% completion with a great run game to help him
-Pass protection

Did anyone see how great Pipkins played in the last two series? Wow.
