OT- Guarantee: White Sox going to sweep Tigers

Submitted by Blue boy johnson on

Tigers lead 2-0 early. Miggy hits 2 run shot to make amends for last night.

Fister looks horrible and I don't think he will make it through the third

Leyland will blow this one somehow.

lol have some faith man. Tigers aren't gonna lose 3 games in a row started by Fister, Scherzer, and Verlander.

Tigers will still make the playoffs. Plenty of time.

Cabrera probably should be DHing. With 2 bum ankles he needs to hit about .500 to justify playing Third

EDIT: Cabrera hitting .750 tonight, so I guess playing Third is justified

Atta way DY. Ventura is an idiot, Peavy shouldn't have been in after the lead off walk, or even to start the 7th and Thornton has been much less reliable than Myers and Crain.

I've been away from MGoBlog for a few hours and I laughed out loud reading the title to this thread. I'm so glad this blew up in this dude's face.

No one can predict Delm-sanity!

If I might ask a question: I'm a Cubs fan.  I do not enjoy the White Sox much.  On paper, the Tigers should be about 10 games up over the White Sox (or, say Indians, games not played on paper, etc.).  What would you Tigers fans most attribute to the problems the Tigers have had this season?  Seemed like a real solid club heading into the season.

have the second best average with RISP in the entire league behind the White Sox. Obviously, it was an issue the last two games against KC, but by in large the numbers don't indicate that as being a significant issue. Inconsistent hitting from the role type guys has been a major issue though. Also, I am not sure why nobody mentions it, but the pitching wasn't very good in the earlier part of the year either.  At one point the entire rotation besides Verlander had ERA's over 4.40.

On paper before the season maybe, but the White Sox have scored more runs than the Tigers and allowed fewer, so on paper now, the Sox should actually be another couple of games up than they are.

According to Joe Sheehan, the Tigers have one of 50 worst park-adjusted defensive efficiencies in the 60 years they have data for the stat.  That's undoubtedly part of it, and is probably the primary reason why the White Sox have allowed fewer runs than the Tigers.  (This year's Brewers are actually even worse in that stat, BTW).

And for all the hype about the Tigers lineup, half of the lineup has been below-average players this year -- Avila came back to earth, Delmon Young is Delmon Young, Boesch has been awful, second base was awful and still meh with Infante, Peralta's been marginal as well.  Cabrera and Fielder are doing their thing and Austin Jackson has been great, but they've got one other guy who starts more than once or twice a week with an OPS over 750.

The word "guarantee" has been cheapened and left empty enough as it is in the world of sports by players, broadcasters, owners, and yes, fans.

Please don't contribute more to this pollution.
