What are your plans for Saturday?

Submitted by BeatOSU52 on

Obviously there is a good chunk of you guys going to the game, but either way, lets hear what you plan to do all day Saturday and where you plan to watch the game. Going to college gameday? Bar for the game? Watch-party? ....

Just a question - why did you choose "Michigan State" for your avi?  Wouldn't it be more apt to use Notre Dame... or OSU?  Michigan State has beat us 4 years in a row, in case you forgot.  Why would they be mad?  They are cocky pieces of shit.  Not mad.

Maybe it was a meme that originated after UM was selected for a BCS game? The whole "couch-sitting" thing and all.

Denard looks pretty spiffy in the picture, maybe it was from the B1G conference where D-Rob tore the place up w/ his speech? (Stealing the limelight as opposed to last year's star of the conference).

The second idea wouldn't make too much sense, but the first one might be on the right track?

Watching college football all day.  Praying we show up for our game against Bama.

We get things started off with Penn State vs. Ohio U at noon.  After everything that's happened at PSU this past year, this could be interesting no matter what ends up actually happening.

Games start 6:00am here in Tucson (ND v Navy).  I've got the whole freakin' day mapped out ... all the way until post-Michigan game when some of the Pac-12 games are still on.

I suspect I'll pop my first beer somewhere around 9:00am. :-)

I'm moving on Saturday.  Hoping to have everything dumped in the middle of the place so I can make it back to a TV in time for the pregame coverage and sit my tired ass on a couch with some beers and Rotel.

I'm going to be in the adirondacks in upstate new york, my grandparents only have a 20 inch, 15 year old television so I will be driving an hour to lake placid to watch the game in HD. It will be worth it no matter what the outcome.

I live in kazoo so here is the situation. I have to pick up my ex girl from the airport in Detroit at 7pm. I told her she picked a really unfortunate day and time. But I told her we are watching the game somewhere in Ann arbor. Where is good sports bar that will have a fun atmosphere in town? I'm sure they will all be packed.

Then hopefully the pool if the weather holds. I think I'll start the usual dip/food making and drinking around five or six while watching some random game. All the while I'll be checking in here and seeing what all the other MGoAddicts are doing.

Watching the game pretty much alone. I like watch parties but nobody else is going to make watching this game better for me. Week two will be a big party, I'm just so unsure about how happy I'll be all game.

To add on to, regarding watching with people, I am a bit of a "game watching snob" myself.  For starters, I'm in Iowa and lack any Michigan faithful around me or in my life; it's just me (and the gf who is being converted).  Being that Iowa fans are the majority of people in my life, they all of course really don't like Michigan.  To sit and watch a game I am VERY much emotionally into, with people who are not and would rather see me suffer and rag on me than celebrate with me, is not an appealing concept at this point in my life.

My girlfriend is the perfect person to watch the game with because she knows me well enough to know exactly how I'm feeling, plus she knows a lot of the players and previews without taking it way too seriously like I do.

Otherwise I have a few Michigan fans around, but I'm a snob like you are. I watched the ND and Ohio games with a Canadian girl (so no NCAA football knowledge at all, great person to watch hockey with, but that's neither here nor there) and it was annoying as hell. She's a good friend but I just can't watch another big game with her.

But after much thought, I've settled on the following plan:

1. Usual breakfast and dog walk routine.

2. Drag TV into bathroom.

3. Drag fridge into bathroom.

4. Drag recliner into bathroom.

5. Drag large container of red dye  into bathroom.

6. Drag myself into bathroom. (fridge and recliner heavier than I remembered)

7. Watch pregame and any BIG game on locally while laughing about Sparty schadenfreude.

8. Eat and drink copiously while watching and laughing.

9. Use red dye to color toilet water crimson for every mention of the DFNs.

10. Flush while repeating, "Roll, tide roll."

11. Repeat step 10 as needed.

12. Finally allow wife bathroom access at game kickoff and move to livingroom.

13. Thoroughly enjoy a Michigan victory over the DNC.

14. Rejoice.

15. ???

16. Profit.

EDIT: I'm just so *$%^ing happy the season is here! I'm posbanging everything.

Not sure if serious.  But I'm always in Fort Worth at my father-in-laws on Labor Day Weekend and couldn't live with myself if I didn't go to the game.  Surprised my Dad with a ticket and our plan right now is going to Sherlock's.  If you see a hick with a Michigan shirt, it's probably me.

I had initially planned on having an opening day BBQ with a few of my Wolverine buddies, but I decided to postpone it until the MSU game (mid-October is still grilling season here in Northern California). I feel like this game requires a greater degree of focus for me to get an idea of our personnel, strengths, weaknesses, etc., and I won't be able to concentrate on the game as closely if I'm grilling and serving food.

Plus, my wife has been getting more and more into Michigan Football lately and she wants us to watch this game together, without distractions.

Bbqing. I'm not talking 'dogs and burgers, I mean real bbq, low and slow. I will be up by 7am to put the Brisket on the smoker, and then it will be college football all day. And Ho-lee crap I just found out my local kroger sells Fat Tire. I guess this is new (?) I thought that wasn't available in the Midwest.

Soooo I have a 90th birthday party to attend AKA send off party. After, I'll be watching the game in Pittsburgh at the Michigan friendly bar (according to MGoBlog's map) the Fox and Hound. Should be a decent evening.

Any UM alums in Pitt, lemme know if there's somewhere else I should be looking.
