2012 Season Record Prediction Thread

Submitted by hart20 on

As the name would suggest, this thread is for your season record predictions for 2012. Feel free to predict the record for other teams besides Michigan.

My predictions:

Michigan 11-1

Notre Dame 6-6 (or 7-5, I haven't decided yet)

MSU 8-4

Ohio 9-3

Yeah, I'll drink that Kool-Aid.

What a year for the bobcats. Really, I think the media is overhyping OSU that was a team that was 6-7 last year and still a unproven QB. MSU 9-3. Michigan 10-2. Who cares about ND.

I like 10-2 for us, plus a win in the BT champ game. I won't predict the outcome of the Rose Bowl without knowing who we're playing.

ND will be 7-5, and MSU will be at least 9-3, probably 10-2.

9-5

I have a bad feeling we lose at Notre Dame, and against Alabama. We are due to lose to Notre Dame at some point after the last 3 years.  I think we drop two big 10 games along the way but win the tiebreaker and end up winning the Big Ten title after beating Wisconsin.  We lose to USC in Rose Bowl.  I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up better than this, and would be surprised if we end up much worse.

The bottom line is the schedule is brutal.  I think we will probably be better than last year but with a worse record.  I am very confident we beat Sparty in Ann Arbor.

My heart says 14-0. My head says 10-2 + a BCS bowl.

Notre Dame continues in mediocrity at 7-5. Sparty regresses towards its norm at 8-4, maybe even 7-5. Ohio has adjustment issues and sticks at 8-4.

I have Michigan going 10-3. Lose the bookends and lose to Nebraska in a weird game away from home. MSU also loses 2 in conference (one to us and one to Ohio) but we go to the B1G Championship game due to the tie breaker. Beat Wisconsin in a not-so-close game.

But none spelled it out as clearly as you have, so for anyone who has us winning the tie-breaker vs. MSU (possible, not questioning) who do you all have Nebraska losing to?  Do they lose 3 times in conference, or is there some long 3 way tiebreaker you think we win if we're not beating Nebraska?  I can see OSU and MSU which would set up a three way tie...do they blow one more?

(Came SO close to typing " which would set up a three way...do they blow one more?")

Nebraska will lose at least 3 B1G games.

2 almost certain losses: @MSU and @OSU

And at least 1 loss from: Wisconsin, UM, @N'Western, @Iowa

My predictions (I am only picking regular season):

UM 8-4 (losses: Bama, @ND, @Nebraska and @OSU) --- still make the B1G championship game

MSU 10-2 (losses: @Wisconsin and @Michigan)

Nebraska 8-4 (losses: Wisconsin, @MSU, @OSU and @Iowa)

Wisconsin 11-1 (loss: PSU...yes, you read that right)

OSU 10-2 (losses: @MSU and @Wisconsin)

I predict UM goes 9-3, with the losses coming against Alabama, Nebraska, and SUNO-Columbus.  But I do think UM will qualify for the B1G title game and knock off Wisconsin to earn a Rose Bowl trip.  I don't like our chances against either USC or Oregon though, so that would make for, overall, a deceptively respectable 10-4 record.

That would be awesome, especially if we lose the home opener to them, but something tells me that would not happen because BCS rematches only happen in the POWERHOUSE SEC.

I'm going to be the pessimist here and say 9-4.

Bama-L, AF-W, UMass-W, ND-W, Purdue-L (we always drop a game we shouldn't), Illinois-W, State-W, Nebraska-L, Minnesota-W, Northwestern-W, Iowa-W, Ohio State-L, Bowl Game-W

Nebraska actually wins the Legends Division and faces Wisky in the Big 10 Championship.

State finishes 8-4 losing to Boise, us, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Ohio finishes 10-2 with losses to State and Wisky

We go to the Capital One Bowl and beat Georgia.

10-2. What have Nebraska (especially considering their QB is returning) or ND (considering theirs isn't) done to scare the shit out of everyone? I definitely get Bama, ohio, and MSU, but not Nebraska and ND.

I don't see Nebraska as a loss either. I understand the home field advantage, but has thier program improved much over last years? I think we at worst case win in a squeaker.

As for ND, they might be due for a win over us, but we were due for a win against Ohio for a long time also. I think we execute better on both sides of the ball and we get the win by at least a td.

Ohio- we win a close game in the shoe. We are due to win in Columbus where there will be much gnashing of teeth.

I keep seesawing between 9-3 and 8-4. The schedule is just too hard and we're still too thin at  some critical positions, namely OL and DL. One injury could mean doom.

Can't see a loss vs MSU.  Last year MSU was better than this year, and that was when Borges was very early in assessing how to use Denard in the BiG.  Cousins was a tremendous QB and is now gone.  And we have them at home.  And it's our most important game of the year.

We will win this game.

Week 1 at Alabama: W (I cannot bring myself to predict a loss.  I think it will be closer than ppl think regardless of outcome)

Week 2 v Air Force: W

Week 3 v UMass: W

Week 4 at ND: W (After which we are ranked in the top 5 nationally)

Week 5 at PUR: W

Week 6 vs ILL: W

Week 7 vs MSU: W (MSU is either undefeated or has 1 loss heading into this game.  After this win we are a top 3 team nationally)

Week 8 at NEB: L (Let down game against a team who we embarrased last year in a tough road environment)

Week 9 at MIN: W

Week 10 vs NW: W

Week 11 vs Iowa: W

Week 12 at OSU: W (I am scared of this game but I cannot bring myself to predict a loss)

Nebraska loses to MSU and one or two other games (Ohio and/or WIS most likely) which sends us to the BIG championship game (I think?).

Michigan at. WIS: W.

We go to the Rose Bowl! Yay for optimism!

Other teams of note:

ND: 6-6

MSU: 9-3

Ohio: 9-3
