Floyd Mayweather Takes Michigan to Cover the Spread
Incarcerated Bob @incarceratedbob
**BETTING INFO ALERT**Source: That man is back> FloydMayweather has $3,000,000 (Yes 3 Million) riding on Michigan +14 spread around 9 books
August 30th, 2012 at 12:20 AM ^
if he put his money on Michigan to win. I don't give a crap about the spread, I want a win.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:30 AM ^
He's making $3 million college football bets?! Someone had might as well start preparing the inevitable story ten years from now about how he managed to blow through his extraordinary wealth. Hopefully he's right about this one, though.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:47 AM ^
Maybe in 15-20 years, that dude has extremely long money...
August 30th, 2012 at 8:29 AM ^
Extremely long money lasts an extremely short time when you're betting $3M on CFB games. Or anything for that matter.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:51 AM ^
If he's dumb enough to be betting this big on sports of any kind, he's also dumb enough to be supporting an entourage of tattooists, dopers, drug dealers, car dealers, real estate dimwits, get-rich-quicker investment sharks, restauranteurs, massage parlors, auto detailers, rappers, dog-fighters, and every leech, hanger-on, and parasite within two hundred miles of whichever of the four houses he happens to be living in at the time. Which means you'll be publishing the story in five years, not ten.
August 30th, 2012 at 1:17 AM ^
His entourage consists of family and newly "acquired" business partner 50 Cent. It's common knowledge that the "Money" personna was constructed (he used to be called "Pretty Boy Floyd") to market himself towards a specific demographic as opposed to being necessarily indicative of a penchant for squandering his earnings in style.
Assume on though; it makes for moderately entertaining reading.
August 30th, 2012 at 6:31 AM ^
IDK, I literally accidentally walked into his entourage while leaving a Vegas strip club. The 20-person entourage features ~ 20 people and 4 cars (Mayboc, Escalade, and 2 others). When he wasn't yelling at everyone about his $10k watch and $3k parking space, he was slapping $100 bills into the faces of the bouncers. If it was a fake persona, he's an amazing actor. BTW, it was just 3 yrs ago he got sued by a casino for to recoup his $40k debt
August 30th, 2012 at 10:09 AM ^
Money May's watch runs much much more than $10k.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:51 AM ^
Say what you will, but I'm willing to bet the drug dealers bring some bacon to the table.
Or, at the very least, cocaine.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
Well, they're probably only a phone call or two away from bringing that, too.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:34 AM ^
and I'm sure he taps into some expert dudes he knows personally and he placed a bet getting 2 TD's, smart move IMO, he sees that this line of 14 pts is ridiculous.
I can't even think of an instance when a U-M team rated in the top ten is getting 14 pts, Bama is overated, especially in the 1st game, they'll be cocky and think they're going to win just by showing up on the field. U-M has a damn good chance of winning this game.
I know one thing foe sure, we ain't gonna get out-coached.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:50 AM ^
Penn State gave them all they coulkd handle for 3 quarters last year. Alabama will not be as good as they were in game 1 last year, and Michigan would wax Penn State by 30. I like our chances.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:59 AM ^
I like our chances too, but seriously when is a 3 million dollar bet ever smart. i guess when you are biff from back to the future 2 but thats gotta be it.
August 30th, 2012 at 1:12 AM ^
to be betting that much. $3m is somewhere around 2.5% of his net worth. Can you imagine betting 2.5% of your 401k, house equity, kids college funds/trust funds or whatever on one game? Obviously the guy can afford to lose $3m and still retire, but it puts things in perspective a little.
Anyway, if you're Bill Gates or Paul Allen or Mark Cuban or whatever, go for it. Mayweather has nowhere near that kind of money. He'd feel a loss of three million.
August 30th, 2012 at 7:25 AM ^
Floyd made $85 million in his fights last year so it's closer to 2.5% of his annual salary. How many of us have gone to Vegas in the first years after college and bet a thousand or two while making less than 100k.
Not that i really believe he bet that much on one game.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:31 AM ^
on Google last night said he was worth somewhere between $115m and $140m. That was just a quick search and all, but 115 was a number that turned up a lot when I looked.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:49 AM ^
since deciding to avoid Manny.
August 30th, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
Floyd destroys Manny.
... And I like Manny. Can't stand Floyd.
But Floyd destroys Manny.
August 30th, 2012 at 1:36 AM ^
Defeats? Conceivably, considering Manny has issues with good counterpunchers and Floyd = best counterpuncher/defensive fighter at his weight.
Destroys? Like he did Gatti or Diego Corrales (RIP)? Don't see that, for a variety of reasons.
...And I like Floyd the boxer. Can't stand Manny (actually it's mostly Bob Arum).
August 30th, 2012 at 1:42 AM ^
I think Floyd would win decisively. Since all of the steroids talk, Manny has not knocked anyone out. Does anyone else find that remotely suspicious???
August 30th, 2012 at 1:48 AM ^
All things being equal it'd be a great fight. I'd still give the edge to the defensively superior man (Floyd)... But they're not. Floyd is a much bigger man. Watch the Mosely-v-Floyd fight and the Mosely-v-Manny fight. Manny looked like a child next to Mosely (And I'm confident would have lost to Mosely in his prime). Where as Floyd has moved up in weight extremely well. He was much bigger than Shane.
I think when they got face to face in the ring it would look like two elite boxers... That should be a couple weight classes apart from each other. Manny is stretching it at 147 and Floyd looks like he could fit right in at 154. Manny's good enough for it not to matter against one dimensional guys and those well past their prime... Mayweather is far from either.
August 30th, 2012 at 2:38 AM ^
Floyd is a natural jr lightweight. When Floyd Sr was his primary trainer, he was known as a defensive wiz with quite a bit of pop. Shane is probably a natural jr welter. They both moved up in weight because, back then (early/mid 90s), all of the money was at welterweight.
Shane jumped up to welter, lost twice to Vernon Forrest, tried Winky Wright at jr middle, and moved back down to welter because he said he didn't feel as strong (didn't have as much pop in his punches) at 154. If you watched Shane at 135, he was incredible. Knocked out 90% of his opponents through his first 20 fights, I believe. And I guess Floyd rehydrated more; they looked about right (Shane noticeably bigger) at the weigh-in:
http://www.boxnews.com.ua/photos/2134/Shane-Mosley-Floyd-Mayweather66.j…
Floyd is not as strong at 147; he's just not a natural welter. Sure, he knocked out Hatton -- but Hatton normally fights at 140. He torched Marquez, but Marquez normally fought between 125 and 135.
The odd thing about Pacquiao (who started at strawweight/105 and admitted that he had to put stones in his pockets to make weight) is that his trainer, on the record, claimed that Pacquiao walks around at 147-150 and is "strongest at that weight. The more weight he has to cut, the weaker he gets". Really odd considering he hasn't knocked anyone out at the weight Ariza claims he's strongest at.
But at any rate, I'm not sure Floyd would fit in at junior middleweight. That's why I don't think he'll fight Saul Alvarez; that's 4 weight classes above his optimal weight class, imo. He still has SOME pop at welter, but he's not going to be able to walk through junior middleweights.
August 30th, 2012 at 3:09 AM ^
Yeah, I've followed all of the above since their first televised fights.
That pic is deceiving. Floyd is much broader across the neck and shoulders. This is the closest I could find to a shoulder to shoulder pic...

For comparison...

I certainly don't think Floyd's "a natural jr lighweight", just because that's where he started. His style may have change as he moved up, but he's been just as dominant. I'll just say that I think Floyd is much more suited to 147 than Manny is and leave it at that.
BTW- Shane fought Winky at 154... Winky should have (and I believe did, successfully, for awhile) been fighting at 160-168.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:05 AM ^
for like 3 fights, and Roger has trained him before and after that...
August 30th, 2012 at 4:14 AM ^
Yeah I mean when the judges are handing out free Marquez wins who would want to fight Manny?
August 30th, 2012 at 12:54 AM ^
that Floyd understands that the spread is about points and not about how many quarters (rounds) he thinks the game could last? That seems like an assenine thing for anyone to do, regardless of their wealth, and Floyd isn't exactly a genius.
August 30th, 2012 at 1:00 AM ^
You spelled asinine wrong while mocking someone. Well done.
August 30th, 2012 at 7:58 AM ^
Spelling nazi ^ .

But spelling rules don't apply after midnight for me.

Whoa there's a lot going on in this story, but can we pause for a second? Who the heck is incarcerated bob? They allow tweets from jail?
August 30th, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
post his betting slips on twitter, and I must say he gambles HARD. Like $300,000 on a random random NCAA BB game hard. $40,000 on the over/under halftime score etc...are there people out there betting more than this?
August 30th, 2012 at 1:48 AM ^
This is the best thing I've read on the board in awhile. I love Mayweather.
August 30th, 2012 at 2:23 AM ^
I have a tendency to become quite angry when Michigan loses. If Michigan loses by 15 or more, at least knowing about this bet will give me something to smile about while seeing if my TV survived its journey through the window.
August 30th, 2012 at 7:19 AM ^
hasn't lost yet..Maybe that's a good sign..Oops, that was just to cover, damn..
August 30th, 2012 at 8:17 AM ^
Floyd bets big money on 1st halfs of NBA games and trust when i say he does very very good..he makes good money on top of his great income..its a major reason he moved from Grand Rapids to Vegas
August 30th, 2012 at 8:39 AM ^
deductible? Mayweather may have this covered both from a "business" standpoint and for "brand" promotion.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:09 AM ^
only up to the point of your gambling winnings and only if you itemize deductions
August 30th, 2012 at 8:53 AM ^
He won $333K if memory serves on Bama in the Natty title this past year. So the guy may know a thing or too...
Obviously I would like to win first but this is good for not getting embarassed.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:35 AM ^
too bad floyd is the dumbest m'fer alive.
November 28th, 2012 at 12:38 AM ^
Mayweather is boring. I don't get entertained of his previous matches. I'd rather watch Pacquiao's fights. Mayweathes is a dirty player and he uses some dirty tactics in order to win the match.
December 29th, 2012 at 2:01 AM ^
Floyd is so damn rich to bet $3,000,000 dollar in a game, he's just wasting his money. We all know that every fight he gains a lot of money, actually there's another opportunity for him to gain a big amount of money. Floyd will defend his title from Alvarez who also a great fighter, me and my friends are starting to inquire about mayweather vs alvarez tickets because we all want to witness this amazing fight.
December 29th, 2012 at 11:16 AM ^
Why are you bumping up threads that are 4 months old?
December 29th, 2012 at 11:20 AM ^
I'd venture to say that no matter what your income, if you're making $3 million bets on a college football game you have a serious problem.
