OT - Mike Hart

Submitted by DY on
Touched the ball a whopping two times tonight and appeared to be limping a bit after his only carry. He covered the ensuing punt, but hasn't been on the field since. Not looking good for him at this point.

Hart increased his stock his senior year with incredible performances when he was on the field. He also decreased his stock by succumbing to an his second injury-plagued season. There aren't many 205lb, 4.7 forty power runners in the NFL. I think if Mike Hart could stay healthy, he could be an exception. But I'm a skeptic of his ability to stay healthy, as he's had significant playing time limiting issues in 3 of the past 5 years.

those overlappers, but I'm pretty sure Mike Hart isn't off topic on a Michigan board. Any Michigan sports related > anything pro sports related, at least in this instance. To the substance, I agree with either Dex or Chi, who said that Hart won't see out his rookie deal. He may not see out August.

I really hope hart turns out ok. I know last year he was doing good an had a shot to be the guy when addai went down, but he ended up getting hurt in the same game. I feel like if he could just get a shot when he is healthy then he could do it. I hope at least is he doesn't make it with Indy then another team gives him a shot

I always liked Hart because of the way that he played. He was always about the team. That being said he is probably the most injury prone athlete I have ever seen. He missed most of the 2005 season, a good chunk of the 2007 season and then low and behold missed a good chunk of the 2008 season. Love the guy but maybe he should be a lawyer or some other non-contact career. Probably would not want him for a doctor. I would be afraid while I was on the operating table he would get an ankle injury and be unable to finish what he was doing.

I remember he played really good last year in the pre-season until he got hurt. Tonight though he didn't do much and he was limping around, I hate to say this but I don't know if the guy is going to make the team this year.

this may sound strange, but in a way i kind of don't want him to, as long as he would get another shot with a different team. i just don't feel like there is a place for him in indy right now. maybe he can come to miami and get the whole old team back together lol

Such a stupid play he got hurt on too, 3rd and 26 and they give him a run up the gut and the defense is in the backfield as he gets the ball. Chad Simpson also got hurt and fumbled and Lance Ball certainly didn't play well.

Hart's achilles are his legs. They're vulnerable. As they keep getting vulnered (past tense of what happens when you're vulnerable), so does his confidence and his chance of playing pro ball. Hart isn't a power runner, he's a power finisher and one of the shiftiest slow backs you'll ever see. Haven't seen Hart's play this preseason, but I hope he's not getting hesitant like Chris Perry did after all the years of injuries.

To all those who say he'll make a great coach, I salute you. I've been saying this for some time now. He'll come back to UM after Rich Rod retires in 25 years and continue our (hopeful) success.
