How does Michigan stand in the Big Ten?

According to Adam Rittenberg at ESPN - 9th.  Whoa.  Below Indiana.  And Northwestern.  And Iowa.  I understand that a lot of people (mostly who did not actually watch the game) think that Michigan is pretty poor after losing the cripple fight, but I think that's a bit of a stretch.  They also have OSU at 3rd, and I know they lost to USC, but what team in the Big Ten wouldn't get smoked by USC in LA.  I think Mr. Rittenberg puts a little too much weight there.  Half the teams above us haven't played a single decent team anyway, don't punish the ones who have just because they lost.

to prove him wrong, and I think we will. But, if you are just looking at performance and not potential, despite the quality of USC, I think you have to rank it like that. Our unforced errors were still OUR mistakes even if we are faster and stronger or better in other ways. Also, without Chris Wells,  OSU isn't great. I expect us to be middle of the pack at the end of the year. Behind OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, MSU or Illinois. Also, I think Utah is ok and would not be in the top half of the Big Ten. ND is not good.
