Get to know the Freshmen
Mgoblue again has a fluff feature entitled "Get to Know the 2012 Freshmen." (LINK: http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/080612aab.html.)
Highlighted today are Freshmen Jeremy Clark, Blake Bars, and Drake Johnson. Like last year, I assume they will continue this feature on a regular basis. There are snippets of personal interest attached to each of them, and a link to bio info.
On a completely different note, ESPN has up an article on Urban Meyer and a shift in his values, supposedly now balancing home and work (better than when at Florida.) (LINK: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/8239451/ohio-state-coach-urban-meyer-new-commitment-balancing-work-family-life.) Personally, this article hits home, because I too often have not spent enough time with my wife and children. A good reminder for moms and dads to keep priorities in place.
I once ate a burrito too fast and assumed/told everyone I was having a heart attack.
I also thought I might like to spend more time with my family, but then I realized they are annoying as fuck most of the time. Major postal holidays only from now on!
The Urban Meyer work-life question is an interesting one. If he really has found a balance, will he be as successful without being so involved. And if he isn't, does he go back to his old ways and burn out again? It'll be an interesting situation to watch.
Jeremy Clark liked All That, much respect to him.
suddenly discovered life balance. Coaching in a ridiculous pressure cooker like Ohio does not lend itself well to A) having a life outside of football, B) maintaining a high standard of ethics, and C) achieving a vibrant level of health.
I could see Drake Johnson being that crazy philosophy professor with that hair. He looks like black Kramer.
Why so racist?
Is he not black?
That's racist!
Das raysis?
/s
Yeah you're racist!

EDIT: Not sure why this double posted, but moderator please delete.
Suddenly discovering life balance=Not cheating on your wife with a grad student
That's great news for us. Remember whay happened to Tiger Woods when he stopped cheating on his wife?
Have the most wins this season?
I'm pretty sure he's back to sleeping around this season. It's the only explanation. He's still not where he once was, not even close.
Needs more hookers and porn stars, imo. We'll see this weekend if he's upped his intake.
It's the only explaination if you're a numbnut. However, I don't think you're that glib, so I'll take it you're just joking.
Two things:
1. Bars and Johnson both look like they just got out of bed.
2. Is it just me or does Clark look like he has a lazy eye in that picture? Optical illusion or reality?
They are looking to their left and it makes all of their eyes appear a bit odd if you look closely.
Much respect to Johnson for knowing that The Flash is, in fact, the best superhero ever.
"Person in history I'd most like to meet ... Either Socrates or Plato, I feel as though the wisdom they could bestow upon someone is priceless"
I like to hear things like this - it really is Michigan when your team has incoming freshmen that already are apparently familiar with ancient Greek philosophers. Further, he listed his favorite book as Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World", which is a personal favorite of mine actually, so I'll give him props for that. As revealed at various points on the board, we have an artist, a budding chef, now a Huxley fan...and they will be playing Michigan football. Just another way this team stands out.
Johnson is using the word, "bestow". Maybe 1 of my teammates in my freshman class would have ever used that word. I like what these kids are up to.
Racism of low expectations.

thought johnson's fluff piece was thoughtful and was pretty impressed by his answers... i won't be surprised if down the road he racks up some academic achievement honors while at UM..

i guess i just have low expectations for 18 yr old kids in general, nothing to do with race. (did i misunderstand you?)

said. This too impressed me.
Info on the freshman are always interesting reads, always fun.
The Onion on Urban Meyer: "Having mediocre season makes him think he's dying or something."

I really like what I have seen from Drake since I started watching his highlight videos these last few months. I've never seen the kid play in person but he looks pretty impressive. I could definitely see him possibly becoming a Mike Cox type. He will be a big play boy.

Someone with enough Mgopoints might want to make a Hello Michael Ferns post
ww.ovathletics.com/home/ferns-expected-to-commit-to-the-university-of-michigan/
If this article is true, this would be great news. Ferns sounds like a beast.
lets not jump the gun. wait until it is confirmed by a reputable source.
After growing up in A2 and living there for 14 year, I can say that Drake Johnson is clearly a typical kid from Ann Arbor, Michigan with those answers. Hats off to him.
