Countdown to Kickoff 2012: Day 27

Submitted by Thorin on

I think players usually check into the hotel on the first Sunday in August and start practice on Monday. Does anyone know for sure the schedule this year? I guess I'm a little concerned that they may become SEALs instead of playing football this year.

EDIT: Nevermind. Freshmen reported yesterday, everybody else today, practice tomorrow:

These first several CTK videos have actually been a fascinating series really, and it is interesting to actually see some detailed snippets (with interviews) of the training after hearing about it back in May.

As for the concern about the players turning into SEALs raised by the OP, if Campbell can take Mealer for a nice drag as per the one exercise in that video, then I think we're in for some very effective play up front.

It will be interesting to see how this all translates on the field this season. I hope it gives the team a spark that they wouldn't have had otherwise because they are going to need that spark in the first game against Alabamy.

and in any aspect of life, whether it's football, corporate world, or family life, trust is a key element to success. I can remember the mantra back in 1997 when Lloyd taught them about "climbing the mountain" and they all received a small pick axe at the beginning of the season. The results were notable, and the chemistry on that team was evident. Great things await all of these young men and they have likely just formed a lifelong bond with one another.

I liked the part where the seal instructor noted that positive reinforcement is much better than negative.

Lot of interesting implications in that season.  Especially in how various football coaches choose to build and train their teams (e.g., Hoke vs. Kelly).
