Jon Merrill To Return
Johnny talked with me this morning and indicated he'll be coming back," Berenson said Monday. "He definitely had some dialogue with New Jersey. Jon realized he only played half of the season and he wants to be ready when he makes the move. He wants to be competing for an NHL job when he does. He doesn't want to be playing in the minors. I think it's the right thing for him.
That should end Michigan Hockey Summer, leaving them intact enough on defense despite the bizarre defection of Connor Carrick. A lineup of…
- Merrill-Trouba
- Moffie-Bennett
- Clare/Serville/Chiasson blender
…is pretty damn good. Chris Brown's absence will be felt, unfortunately.
That first defensive pairing is going to be fun to watch this year.
I still won't hold my breath
Merrill Christmas!
/sorry
WOO!
Looking forward to a good season from him.
Smiles knowingly.
Yeah, we're going to miss Brownie, but hopefully AJ and some of the Sophomores pick up the slack. What are the expectations for Rutledge? He's going to have some great defensemen in front of him, but he's a freshman goalie.
I don't know how good Rutledge will be, but it'll be nice to have such a deep defensive corps in front of him for his freshman year
then I think his potential offensive spark from the blueline will help offset the Brown loss tremendously.
