Michigan in Robert Foster's Top 5; Edit-Plus Other Recruiting Updates
According to this article, 5 star WR and arguably the #1 WR in the nation has Michigan in his top 5 along with Alabama, USC, Oregon, and Michigan State.
This is obviously good new, since we're in the top 5 for the #1 receiver in the country, so while there hasn't been much discussion about him on our end, maybe something happens here. I'm surprised by the inclusion of us and MSU though, because OSU and Pitt, two schools that were presumed to be the favorites for a while, were both left out.
Update: From Trieu and 11 Warriors, 3 star OT from Indiana has committed to OSU. This one is legit. I say this because earlier this year he caused a stir by tweeting he committed to OSU when he actually had no offer. Must have earned one after FNL.
Update: 2014 Top 50 LB Clifton Garrett from Illinois, who was at FNL last night and is at the BBQ this weekend just tweeted that MSU had a lead over OSU before FNL, and still has a slight lead. *Edit: Will not be at BBQ, thanks to Spartanfan for the correction.
Update: According to his twitter, Channing Stribling was invited to the Marine AA game in LA. Nice to see another recruit getting some accolades, especially one as under the radar as Stribling.
**FINAO**™ Channing @Prettyboi_Strib
Got invited to the Marine All-American game in LA...came in unknown again...
He's not gonna choose Michigan
Like you said, I am very suprised by the omission of OSU and the inclusion of MSU and UM in Fosters top 5.
I would also recommend not trying to understand what tOSU does...no logical person should voluntarily perform this exercise.
Another site said the Houston offer is for a preferred walk-on only.
You're correct, been updated on every site I checked, including 11 Warriors, as a walk-on spot.
He's confused. By his own words, he was "guaranteed a spot in the 105 man roster"... which is code for preferred walk-on.
You are correct. Managed to edit mine right before your reply.
He seems like he wants to get out of the midwest... Bama and USC stand out as frontrunners unless USC becomes full. I know he favors Bama especially but his recruitment has been pretty quiet at least on the michigan front.
I don't think so. Everything I've heard has him staying very close to home (as in Pitt). Supposedly he has a small child as well, which would factor into the decision.
Twins i believe.
great to have a chance with him but even if hes serious about Michigan he would likely have to commit soon or not have a spot. However, I do wonder if you "make room" for the #1 WR.
I thought Foster had some serious character issues or maybe it was simply grade issues? I can't remember where I read that, but I figured it was why the buzz around him has been so quiet.
Grades seem to be the issue.
We'll find out if grades are an issue if he commits to State;)
He's just delaying the inevitable at this point.
And Michigan State??? lol
If grades are an issue than it shouldn't make a diff with the other schools on that list
It'll be interesting to see how the ohio fans spin 3-star OT's commit to ohio. When he tweeted a couple of months ago that he committed, but it turned out he didn't even have an offer, the fanbase kind of went off on him as not even good enough to play for ohio. Now, suddenly he is.
Nice backup plan...
Foster has a new Top 5? About a week ago he had a top 4 of OSU, Pitt, Bama and MSU. Pitt was #1 because he just had twins and wants to stay close to home for them. weird...
BTW, Clifton Garrett will not be able to attend the BBQ this weekend. Not trolling, just correct the OP's info.
don't worry guys, OSU didn't want foster anyways (according to a message posted by staff at 11 warriors). probably had a non-commitable offer anyways.
I think there will be room for at least one, maybe two more by signing day, beyond what people are calling right now.
Anyone know the actual stats on the year to year variability/attrition?
Obviously, the recent stats are corrupted by the RR debacle. Buy, 2/2013 is a long time away.
