EDIT: OT- Wednesday Night Drinking/ Other Sports Thread.
It's a very rare night in which there are a few things worth watching during summer.
#1 The Tigers look to keep pace with the Sox who, with a win today, now sit atop the AL Central table. Lets get a win, Maxy.
#2 (In Retrospect) Our girls got a W today over France in a comeback 4-2 victory.
#3 Liverpool and Roma squaring off in Fenway.
#4 The MLS all stars taking on Chelsea. "This is a band of rivals, elected by the people, who have come together to defeat a common enemy." - ESPN
Between the laptop and the tele, I'll be keeping an eye on as much as possible.
Let's go Tigers, and Let's go Blue!
EDIT: Proposed that this is the drinking thread, too. I agree...
want football
3 of the 4 are football...?
2/10
The original OP title was explicitly "non-football."
Do we really need to cram all these topics into one thread? Especially if people want to talk about more than one of these items.
It's a hip hop world
#5 - bacon1431 watching Batman Begins with his sister to educate her.
Let's make this a Wednesday night drinking thread too. I am at the wolverine state brewery tap room waiting for trivia to start. I am drinking a mug of a brown IPL called "the sins of carlito."
How do you like the beer? I'm hoping to try some at the beer festival this weekend in Ypsi.
I'll be cracking a Lucky U IPA from Breckenridge after I get a bit more studying done.
Also: I'm pretty sure my GF is MC-ing your trivia game tonight in place of the normal guy- though she may be at a different location.
If you have access to Breckenridge beers, I highly recommend the small batch 471 double IPA. I just went to their tasting room last week and it was delicious off the tap ($3 for a pint too).
I'll keep an eye out for sure, thanks for the tip! Here in Chicago we get some, but it's limited beyond the basics.
Wolverine's darks are great. They do a great IPA. The Gulo series of IPL are my fave.
not sure what X did to earn automatic neg-bombs (& yes, I am too lazy to try & find out), but I can't hardly view anything he says ... how come when I click to expand his post, it automatically collapses back down a moment later? anyone else experience that? maybe it's a chrome thing. er ... sorry for the OT ramblings.
Set and save your threshold on -1 for the thread settings, between the OP and the comments. No annoying post collapses.
ah righto, thanks man. I didn't think about that.
Hope this helps!
Dragon: If you want to be able to click to view negbombed posts without them recollapsing instantly, it's always worked for me to simply refresh the page (just so you know, in the likely event that your F5 key has been reduced to smoking rubble during recruiting season, CTL+R also works)
What?!?! There's been trivia there this entire time I've lived within walking distance to that place? I love bar trivia. It satifies my urge to show off my knowledge of utterly useless things as well as my urge to drink during the week without feeling like an alcoholic...
Oh, I've just come to terms with the mid-week drinking. That feeling passes with time. You should go over there- the beers are good as is the trivia- they go on for awhile and the winning team gets a mug club membership, IIRC.
They make good beers there too. I dig the Gulo, but I've not had as much an opportunity to have the various types dark lagers. Seems like whenever I'm back in AA (no pun intended re: first sentence of this entry) we never made it over there. I just hate the idea of having to drive back after imbibing for a couple hours.
Pint Night (keep the glass) of Maredsous Brune at the Gingerman in Rice Village (Houston, TX) after 3 days of Jury Duty in Mandarin.
Didnt know that national tequila day was yesterday until I woke up this morning. Going to be a belated celebration
I'm at 35,000 feet drinking a beer while crammed into seat on Delta... good times.
For those interested Matt Barkley is doing an AMA on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/x5lrk/iam_matt_barkley_quarterback_of_the_usc_trojans/
One question he was asked what stadium he'd most like to play at. His response?
"Wanted to play at the Big House!! And rock out to "Seven Nation Army" haha.. MY song.."
I just got done reading it, and checked for mention of it here before posting it myself. There are several good mentions of UM and OSU, as well as him proving that he knows how to Reddit. I'm impressed.
this is ... fascinating. seems like an all right guy.
Yes, until our D goes at it against him in the Rose Bowl this year!
#visionsofunconsciouspsuquarterbacksandalanbranch
Also, Founders Pale Ale.
I am settling down to some Leffe and the Tigers game, having breathed a huge sigh of relief that I made it through my mid-year review with phrases like "encourages a spirit of collaboration" and "uses continuous improvement principles to drive change". I always go into these with some anxiety, but I feel good about myself tonight, so good beer is only appropriate.
congrats! *clinking of glasses*
A 4 day football camp our team went too. Our team won Best Linebacker & DLine man awards. We Also won the bench competition with our 3 benchers putting up 15, 15, & 18 at 225. That came in 1st, 2nd & 3rd. I played a lot of varsity & was one of the 2 sophomores to even play varsity. Too bad my blisters are quarter sized. One of the PSU commits were there he pancaked me it was Andrew Nelson kid was a beast.
Pancaked? Does that mean guys were in pads already even though it's only July?
But we have bags like shields technically. We play inside run, 7v7 & 11v11.. so yeah. It happened in 11v11
Drinking Yuengling, waiting for my beach volleyball league game to start.
You?
Tampa...not Pottsville
730 AM patient, thus means I have to wake up at 530. No booze :(
Will start Civ5 while wife watches her DVRd tv shows.
Drinking Natty Light and wondering if I will ever get too old for it.
Natty and keystone got me through high school.
Me too. And college. And most of grad school. . .
I atleast graduated from Natty to Busch light when I got to college. No offense to anyone outside of college who still drinks it, but I'm at the age where if I can't (or don't want to) spend the money to get something better than Natty ice/light and Busch, I don't think I should be drinking beer at all at that time or place.
Of course, if it's not a monetary thing at all and you just prefer the taste of said adult beverages over others, that is a whole nother weird issue unto itself.
I have the next two days off. Anyone have any beer suggestions that are available throughout the midwest?
Oh sure, where are you located and what sort of beers are you into/dont like?
I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy making sweet sweet love to that girl.
so I could watch Futurama at the same time. No sense in wasting that awesome restraint job on the chair.
Brannigan's Law is like Brannigan's love, hard and fast.
Um...it seems to me that this very nice, respectable looking lady has somehow mistaken her belt for her undergarments...
Is that a chastity belt? The guy on the TV is wearing the same one. She must be a big fan.
Chastity belt? That's going to chafe the willie.
