The B1G logo probably eliminates a 900th win logo (Edited)
In the past, Michigan painted commemorative-wins logos at the opposite 25 yard lines. This year, Michigan will be the first school in college football history to achieve 900 wins. With that stupid B1G logo on the field this year that practically eliminates any idea of putting "900" on the field unless they place them on the opposite corners, which then would make the field look even uglier.
But then again, it may not even occur during a home game. If we win out the first five games, it will occur at Purdue. If we lose one, the opportunity would be the Illinois game.
EDIT: The numbers displayed on the field in the past were, indeed, about games played. NOT wins. I'm not for throwing around inaccuracies on here. It was an honest mistake. Big. But honest. Thanks for the correction.
but I don't see any reason to put a commemorative 900th victory logo down there either. Save that for t-shirts and coffee cups.
I agree no need to brag about 900, the first to 1,000,000 now that is special!

I would say wait another 8-10 years when we become the first to reach 1,000 wins.
106 wins in 8 years? I'll take averaging 13.25 wins a year!
Maybe by then, I'll figure out how to hack the game to put my own logo on the field.
That sounds about right. We'll probably lose a few games during that stretch. Keep in mind that with the Big Ten Champ Game and the new playoff format that you can play 15 games a season starting in a few years.
You are neg bombing me for recalling what has been done before? I'm not suggesting they DO it, just making a historical point.
You have exactly ONE downvote as of this moment.
Negbomb:I do not think it means what you think it means.
(FWIW, your comment is much more likely to get you actually negbombed. The first rule of MGoPoints/MGoUpvoting...)
Who cares?
A. It will likely happen more now that you said something.
B. People will downvote you because they hate people named Rod, they had a bad day, they don't like new threads, who knows. Don't sweat it, man. It's all fake karma internet pointz.
LOL.
BTW...I love sushi. Can I place an order?
I negged you for bitching about negging. First rule of MGoPoints...
You are neg bombing me for recalling what has been done before?Actually, I'm negging you because your recollection is wrong. We've never done what you're claiming (painting the number of wins on the field).
Dude, I got negged for making the post about the uniforms for the 'Bama game, and all I did was link the article to mgoblue.com and include a pic of the uni's in my post. People like the red arrow.
maybe Brandon can set up a sparkler pattern on each scoreboard and lux box so that, in the event that we get our 900th win in A2, he can light em up when the clock reaches 00:00.
Other fireworks go without saying of course
I don't think we've commemorated total wins before. We did commemorate the total games played - like when we played our 1,000th game (1992 Minnesota) and our 500th home game (2008 Wisconsin). But I don't remember us ever painting "Win 800" or anything like that. That doesn't seem like something we'd do.
BTW, I believe we painted the "500th Big House Game" (or whatever) logo down along the sidelines, not in between the hashes where the B1G logo will be.
Indeed. I don't remember commemorating win #800 when we beat Wisconsin in 2000 (Henson to Terrell in the 4th quarter.)
Games played is a different story. There was much hoopla over the 1,000th game in school history being played in 1992, where we beat Minnesota 63-13.
The following year, Penn State played their 1,000th game and guess who spoiled the party in Happy Valley? Heh.
The Ohio Stadium dedication comes happily to mind: http://library.osu.edu/projects/OSUvsMichigan/dedication.htm
Michigan will *most likely* become the first school to achieve 900 wins.
We're still upset over the B1G logo? That was soooooooo Monday.
...about being the "first school" to win 900 games is that even if something bad happens and wins are vacated, you'c still be the first to have done it. Or wait, does the NCAA have the power to take that away too?
you would be on a VERY short list of teams that did it twice...
As if we can reach 5 wins this year...
/s
They'll just make a jersey for it instead.
That's called counting your chickens before they hatch. Michigan never has done something for a POTENTIAL milestone.
There have only done three 25yd line logos.
- 1000th Game logo in 1992 against minnesota
- 500th Game at Michigan Stadium logo in 2008 against wisconsin
- 2012 Spring Game #GoBlue
So you're saying the 2013 National Championship banners arent going up just quite yet?
Damn.
Wait...when would we paint a "900th win" logo on the field? When we have 899 wins and are going for #900? That strikes me as a terrible idea.
Or would we paint it when we have 900 wins and are going for #901? What do we do when we win that game, have a "removal ceremony" afterward to celebrate the fact that we no longer have 900 wins? Do we keep the logo on the field until we win #901?
You might have a celebration after win #900, but you don't paint an "x wins" logo on the field, ever.
Not sure how Purdue reacts to a 900 at Ross-Ade Stadium
Don't matter none to me.
They can put the "900th Win" on my right nipple if they need more room.
I'm just so excited just thinking about Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeechigan getting a 900th win!
GO.
BLUE!
Negged you because your first paragraph was factually incorrect and your second paragraph made no damn sense. Nice job.
Painting your wins onto the field seems like tempting fate (aka the NCAA). Not that I'm saying I think we do anything that would result in the removal of wins, it just seems like tempting fate.
900 yard line
Please provide any evidence that Michigan ever, ever put number of wins on field. I attended the 1,000th game. No fucking way they did this with number of wins; you are totally full of shit and deserve to be called out.
