OT: Rick Nash traded to NYR

Submitted by Blueisgood on

Traded to NYR for Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon, and a 1st rounder. Along with Nash, Cbus is sending a 3rd rounder and a minor league dman.

Its rumored that Detroits offer was better, but Cbus wouldn't trade with Det.

Also Nashville finally holds on to someone. They avoided arbitration with Sergei Kostitsyn

Terrible deal for Columbus. After making outrageous demands for 7 months, they make a major flop with this one.

If we don't see Doan or Perry to the Wings soon, I'm thinking this will be a long season for Red Wings fans.

My worry about the Wings increases.  Nash would have been nice, but need defensivemen.

(Not sure why, but saw Steve Nash and pictured him as a speedy center when I read this.  I need a vacation.)

Doan would be a moron to not sign with NYR now. I don't think Detroit really needs another Forward at this point. We have already upgraded our forwards from the past two years in adding Sammy, Tootoo, Brunner, and Nyquist. Those aren't sexy signings but statistically they are an improvement over Hudler and Holmstrom who are both likely gone. We also significantly upgraded our depth. (don't forget we most likely get Eaves back from his concussion too).

We really need a dman. I expect Quincy, Smith, and Ericsson to make big strides this year. That being said we still need to sign someone to get to 7 dmen. Kindl isn't ready to play everyday minutes.

Completely agree about Doan the the NYR. I've been a life long, die-hard Rangers fan and am just over the moon about this deal. Dating back to last year, I wanted no part of this trade. Howson was demanding Kreider, MDZ, and others. I seriously cannot believe Slats got this done for Dubi, AA, and Erixson, (3 pieces that needed to go).

In free agency, Slats can get stupid. Trading, on the other hand, he fleeces everyone. Still completely perplexed how he got Montreal to take Gomex for essentially McDonaugh.

I may live in Columbus, but I'm sure not a Jackets fan, and this makes me happy. All these OSU/Jackets fans have got to be getting homicidal about the way this team is run.
