Make a statement and release him.
Maybe the Lions will finally get rid of him.
Why is it that Lions players keep getting arrested multiple times? Berry, Leshoure, and Fairley all managed to get picked up twice this off season. Seriously guys, just stay home!
EDIT: Hey, remember when Berry told Lions fans to "go back to being broke and miserable?" Seriously, just cut this guy.
Ridiculous
Why it is impossible to be a Lions fan. Can we change the name of the team to the Mean Machine?
it could be worse. You could be a Browns fan.
When the Browns go 0-16, then we'll talk.
Lions have the most exciting young QB-to-WR connection the league has seen in years. If you haven't started getting over the distant memory of 0-16 and pitying teams that to have to pin their hopes on Colt McCoy becoming a star, I don't know what to tell you.
I just have to say, RUFKM? When was that, 2008? The Browns only won 4 more games than the Lions that year, and have had a worse record since. AT least 0-16 got the first pick and Stafford, the Browns can't even sick right, and they keep ending up in the top 5 but not high enough to get one of the franchise guys.
I know its been rough for Lions fans, but right now I'd rather be a Lions fan than a Browns fan, which is pretty much all I said in my original comment.
I posted this before it was confirmed last night in the drinking thread, don't care if we're thin at CB you have to release this clown and send a message.
picked him up. The owners have the power to put a stop to this nonsense.
Doubt that would happen because most NFL teams go under the notion of, "win at all costs." It would certainly send a message if nobody picked him up but it just seems unlikely.
It is that he was a nUDFA. In other words he had to bust his ass to just to make a roster. Now he is destroying his career with his actions. He isn't Pac Man. He is not a guy who was drafted high--or in his case, at all. It boggles my mind that he continues to do such idiotic things.
He really dropped the ball on that one.
Perfect.
This would be a lot more funny if it was a few years ago and Roy WIlliams.
The fact that he got so much shit from dropping INTs in the playoffs last year, then went on a rant about it in twitter. It fits great.
What a joke. From last years "twitter rampage" to the multiple arrests. I don't understand what I'd going through his mind and what type of people he surrounds himself with. I say just cut his weak ass.
Goodbye Aaron
i don't think we'll have a chance to see if he is this undisciplined on the field, this isn't a small infraction. I could see him not playing this year because of this.
He won't be playing this year.
with the rest of Mayhew and Schwartz's crew.
Actually, prior this this off season, the Lions had one of lowest arrest rates in the NFL over the past decade. In fact, since Mayhew was hired in late 2008, the Lions had zero arrests for more than 3 years until Culbreath got arrested. And keep in mind that of the Lions' (still very outrageously high) 7 arrests this off season, it only came from 4 players.
What is a little maddening about those seven arrests is in here.
According to Yahoo! Sports, there have been 29 incidents, including this one, involving the police among NFL players since the offseason began, and the Lions own seven of them. When I saw that, it made this incident just that much more infuriating.
I'm a little surprised that the number of incidents is only 29. It seems like there has been a new arrest every day this past off season. But I absolutely agree that being responsible for almost 25% of the NFL's legal troubles is definitely unacceptable.
I was just pointing out that in terms of the Lions organization and Mayhew's reign, this rate of arrests is really unusual.
the anti-Quentin Berry.
This is just stupid now. It's really not that hard to not get arrested. I do it all the time.
Already posted! Wait what? Again? Wtf
All of the shit you guys have gone through is just tragic.
Marques Slocum has renamed them the WTFLIONS.
Could they act worse on the field? You better hope in one hand and.... Nevermind. Just post when a player isn't arrested in a weeks span, because that would be bigger news.
They better release this fool, even with how useless this dude is in life, its still the blown pick in the playoff game that i'll remember him for.
Did anyone think Eric Wrights arrest was interesting? He was barely a buccaneer before getting arrested himself. There is something wrong with my lions but I have no idea what.
If he were worth a damn, then maybe keep him, but the guy isn't worth keeping.
Well, that's just sad. Nice waste of a pick.
Berry went undrafted; the Lions signed him as an UDFA. So they actually didn't waste a pick on him, if that makes you feel any better.
your team is forever cursed. even when you finally put a winning product on the field, guys can't keep themselves from getting arrested.
That's terrible. What an idiot!
He obviously missed this article by Ochocinco: http://ocnnreport.com/2012/07/19/the-6-nfc-and-afc-acronyms-that-will-s…
He just got arrested for the friggin DUI, what was he thinking? We don't know his side of the story but he should just sit at home and chill out till the season starts at least.
The new Cowboys?
They are, unfortunately...
At this rate, they are going to have to move the team to Gainesville or Columbus.
It could be worse though: they could have a name that invites a derisive rhyming nickname, such as when fans and a lot of people in the media were calling Portland's NBA team the "Jail-Blazers."
Goodbye Aaron Berry, and good riddance. Now gtfo.
Better Aaron Berry than Quintin Berry
Where is the leadership?
Mayhew and Schwartz. I think it is very fair to start questioning their aptitde to identify character, value it and promote it. The local media needs to hold them accountable.
Truth is, Berry should have been cut last year after his piss poor play and twitter bombs on fans in a struggling economy. Somehow - and this is really incredible - he got promoted to be a starter. Even after the DUI earlier in the summer, he was on track to be a first-string player here.
As of now, the message is clear that the hammer was not going to come down from the organization for this nonsense. An example is long overdue. Not only should he be immediately cut, but the Lions need to issue a bold statement about how seriously it takes its players' conduct. Because right now it really looks like they don't care.
Back to being wealthy and miserable with another team.
to Chris McCosky, Lions beat writer... Aaron Berry has been released. Even though this is a position of need for the Lions, this is the right move.
