Jadeveon Clowney No. 1 in hypothetical college football Mock Draft
A center who is a senior and will be in the NFL next year, no less.
Because of that pick alone, it'll be hard for me to take any that Andy Staples says seriously from this point forward.
Yeah...I still don't get the William Gholston love. No. 15 is redonkulous, especially considering Taylor Lewan who owned him (OWNED HIM!!!!!!!) goes at No. 82. This list is stupid.
I understand that seniors have less value in this draft......but having Denard (who plays the most important position on the field) picked behind several senior lineman is laughable. Real head-scratcher.
Mandel, despite saying otherwise, is still thinking about it like an NFL draft, where you build your program around line anchors. If you're working on a two year-max system like this, you need to draft best available at all times.
This isn't by Mandel, it's by Andy Staples, who I find really hit or miss. His focused column's are quite good and insightful, and he's been one of the most clearheaded writers in terms of the whole Penn State mess, but he's dreadfully prone to gimmickry, witness his themed top 25s throughout all of last season.
Is probably the best and most versatile lineman in the country. He could probably start anywhere along the line in Tuscaloosa. He started off at guard and has played some tackle. He was the Outland Tropy winner this past year on arguably one of the best o-lines in the country! That versatility may hurt him, depending on where NFL teams project him to best at on the line, but he's definitely a top 10 player nationally in my humble opinion!
This is the coolest thing ever ! The draft does have some head scratchers but the concept is awesome. If I was drafting for that purpose I would build for the future. I would try to secure as many incoming 5 stars as a could, and I would go after the top freshman from last season. My team would win the NC in 2014
My personal favorite part was Western Michigan draftnig THE BEST QB IN THE STATE!
