Dymonte Thomas in NFL 7v7 Tourney
I can't decide which 2013 recruit that I'm most looking forward to wearing the winged helmet, but S Dymonte Thomas is up there, and we haven't heard much about him recently. He's competing in a national 7v7 tournament in Indianapolis this weekend, and here's an article with some praise. Also includes a positive shout out to Khalid Hill. Link? Link.
Unfortunately the article also says the best player of anyone on the day was Jalin Marshall. #ihateohio

I'm a big fan of Thomas, too. He committed to this class early and has been overshadowed by the camp scene and all of the blue-chippers that have committed in the past six months.
Thomas is going to be a beast in the secondary. Don't forget about him.

Dymonte is going to be a beast in our secondary for years too come. Glad he's Blue.
Seems like forever ago since Shane and DT verbaled. DT may not be out camping across the country driving up his ranking but he may be the best prospect in this class. If he came in as a RB I wouldn't bet against him being the highest ranked RB we have pulled in awhile.
If I had a penny for everytime some message board "guru" typed, "he's going to be a beast" I'd have enough money to buy several sets of guitar stings.
Mike Martin was going to be a beast (he looked like one and lifted like one) but never fully materialized into one on the field. He was good but not great.
Will Campbell was to be a beast. Maybe this year when he might likely start for the first time albeit it will be his last year playing.

While I don't expect anyone to temper their unrealistic expectations I do find it interesting that many of you somewhat intelligent posters continue to show your ignorance on just how difficult it is for many players to translate their high school skills to the college level. Michigan is over flowing with examples of kids coming in and never materializing yet not many on here have learned that basic lesson.
Sure, someone might end up becoming a beast. But odds of that happening are not great.
The funny thing is the most unlikely players typically end up becoming beasts.
One comes to mind.
Kovacs.
He's as close to a beast you can point to for the fact he's actually pretty damn consistent with his play and has made some great plays. He's been the anchor in the secondary. He's not perfect but he's been stellar when it has mattered. If only all UM players had his work ethic and football smarts.
It's why I love his story. He's a great example of why recruiting is so hit and miss.

Kovacs is a one out of maybe every 10,000 type of hit in recruiting. Guys of Dymonte's caliber probably have a 1 in 5 hit rate. No one is calling it a done deal but he is a highly talented high school player who you should be excited about seeing his future potential. Calm down E-thug.

And I send you my most sincere apologies for being hopeful and looking forward to seeing a recruit play who has a good chance of playing well and contributing to the team I love. Very well said shakey jake. I cant wait to see some of these guys play, but the truth is if half of the 2013 class or any class does well on the field we are doing great. Most of these guys will be a miss and not a hit or a star.That is just the way recruiting goes.
The one thing I give high marks to the staff is that they are very focused on recruiting high character kids. Sure, they are kids and kids do stupid things but unlike the last staff, this staff is paying a lot more attention to a kid's character.
And believe me, I hope the majority of these recruits pan out and are instrumental to winning many games and B1G championships (maybe one or two NCs). But my hope is tempered by reality, something many on here aren't capable of doing (and why this message board has vastly deteriorated over the years.)
Hence, why I don't post much unless I am mad and want assault mgosheep with my guitar.

I realize he was double teamed a lot. Good players have that happen to them. But I don't see where he would qualify as great.

Mike Martin was rated the 193rd player in the nation in his recruiting class and he ended up being a third round draft pick, So yea, I'd say he exceeded expectations.
Yeah, I get the idea of relative expectations, but to say Kovacs is a beast and Mike Martin wasn't? Don't see how anyone could defend such an assessment.
Mattison said Martin was the best player on last year's defense. If you're calling Kovacs a borderline beast, and according to one of the best DCs around Martin was better than Kovacs, well, then, case made.

He has always been interested in Michigan, and probably enjoys hanging out with all of his Cass Tech buddies who will be there.
Plues, it's a better move than, say, going off on a rant about how much Michigan sucks for not offering him.
