Reuben Foster flips from Alabama to Auburn

No direct effect on U-M at this point, but I'm a bit happy to see a high level talent leave Alabama, considering the load of talent they possess.

I thought maybe OT, but figured big news about an upcoming opponent (even though not game-related) and huge recruiting news (consensus top 5 player flips) was on-topic.

However, I'm still a bit fresh to the MGo world.

To make matters more interesting Foster copied Yeldon's press release.

What Yeldon said:

Over the last few weeks, I've really put a lot of time and thought into where I want to go to school and continue my football career. I am blessed to be in a situation where I have several great opportunities and I appreciate everyone involved who has helped me get to this point. I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get to work on the things I need to do to prepare for college both athletically and academically. I am going to enroll at the University of Alabama in January. I have a lot of respect for Auburn, the coaches, and all of the people there, but at the end of the day I feel like the University of Alabama is the best situation and fit for me and my family. I am 100 percent confident with my final decision. I feel great about it and I'm excited to get started.

Him to get a nice cut. Honestly for years nobody knew what he did for a living, but he always had sooo much money. To be honest when things came to light it confirmed what some family members suspected and at the same time gave relief to the other side that thought he sold drugs. Like I said, ive never seen money exchange hands but I know of a few other situations that took place just like Cams around the exact same time.

The ultimate betrayal going from Bama to Auburn. Theres no turning back for this kid. I hope he has "Kalis" type thick skin and heart because the threats will reign down hard on him and his family. I hope nothing too serious comes of this news, but being from Alabama, Im 100% sure somebody is going to do something stupid. Its unfortunate...

Would have liked to have Foster, but his loss is not a big deal.  One recruit does not a team make.  He could flip back, as a few recruits have done from auburn, but still not a big deal.  Bama will have another stellar class to go with all the rest.  He, by he way, was not our "best" recruit, but simply one of the best. I put little credence in the minor ratings differences in top recruits.

It simply opens another spot for someone else.  Saban tells every recruit, "We'll win with you or without you," and that remains true.

Regarding paying for players, there is no evidence whatsoever Bama has ever played a player.  Auburn was caught paying players in the 90's and put on probation, and the same people still run that program.  There has been smoke in that department around auburn for 25 years.

Foster is not from auburn.  He's from Geoigia, but transferred to auburn high school for this school year.

I don't mean to laugh, but I can't help it because this is pretty much the same attitude buckeye honks have when they lose a recruit to someone else. They go on the "Oh, it's not a big deal and we will be fine" rant when in the backs of their minds, they're pissed off.

...for something else entirely.  I'd love to have Foster - he's a great player.  But based on Saban's track record, it's not a big deal to lose one recruit, not matter how talented.  We are very much trying to take several bigtime linebackers, and we'd have loved to have Foster, but ever since he moved to auburn high school, every Bama fan with sense knew he might flip.  He's not the first commit to flip from Bama and he won't be the last.

Alabama recruits well enough under Saban that we'll get our share of excellent recruits, and we'll continue to win.  I don't believe there will be a single loss in future years that can be attributed to not having Reuben Foster on our team.  Again, i would love to have him, but it doesn't make or break our class or team.  Period.  If you want to lump me in with other's whose words and mneanings you can't sepearate from mine - have fun.  Your loss.
