Laquon Treadwell wants to visit Auburn now

Submitted by bassmaster on

He also says he hasn't talked to Michigan coaches in a month, yet he knows about Bailey visiting soon. I would link it up but it's behind a paywall. Draw your own conclusions, but I think if he was going to come to Michigan, he would be committed by now.

What makes you say that? All three receivers have elite offers. Harris has a WR from the schollie strapped USC! Outside the top 10-15 elite guys, the next 100-150 are just as likely to succeed, and on top of that, those rankings are trying to predict the future. How much less talent units does Bailey have when he is ranked as the 16th best receiver than LT , who is number 5?

The top offers of each WR:

LT-UM, ND, OSU, USC, OU

AB-UM, ND, FSU, UGA, OU

PH-UM, USC, OSU, PSU, Cal

They all seem equivalent to me...

1. As you already pointed out, the top 10-15 elite guys are the most likely to succeed, and as you also pointed out, LT is a top 5 WR (concensus top 10, concensus 4 star).  The other two are not in the top 10.  In fact, as much as I don't like to rely on ratings, since you're quoting them... Scout has Harris as a 2-star #140 WR.  While I agree that his offers suggest that a severe underrating, it's still a huge difference in judged potential.

2. Ask anyone on this board or any Michigan coach and ask them who they would rather have out of the 3.

3. Watch their videos.

As I said in my original comment, I would be very happy with any of the three, so I agree that we are splitting hairs here.

about this 'policy' by high school coaches. Can they really enforce it? Is it in the best interest of the athlete? I'm sure if a player wanted to decommit after a verbal theres not a thing the coach could do about it.

I understand the coaches point of view to build good relationships with college coaches, and having your players commit to one team would help that, but at the end of the day, if a player wants to decommit and play elsewhere then that is up to them.

It's obviously not a legal obligation, but many high school players have a ton of respect for the head coach and wouldn't take their rules lightly.  You also wouldn't want to hurt the chances of players after you in getting a scholarship, even if the damage done would be minor.

He isn't coming. He's had plenty of time and a little bit of pressure (time/commit number-wise) and hasnt' committed. This is fine -- I don't blame the kid. It seems, though, for right or wrong that our coaches prefer kids who jump at the offer. It doesn't seem to matter the reason, but they recruit a kid for awhile, and if he isn't sold after a few months, they seem to understand he isn't likely to be sold.

I could always be wrong -- he may just keep oscillating around and realizing nothing is better than M, but ultimately, he seems to be looking for a place better and will likely find his fit. Fair enough, but I'm happy to move on despite his talent level. I'd rather that he committed to us, but I like that recruiting is set before the season.

There is something to that. The coaches have spent the past few months recruiting this guy, telling/showing him everything about UM, if he hasn't bit yet, what's he waiting for? The coaches probably feel like once they make their pitch it's up to the kid to make the decision, they aren't waiting...

Is it possible he just hasn't spoken to them face-to-face in a month?  On his twitter he had a tweet which included a "#goblue" earlier today.  What other campuses has he even seen?  Also drawn from his twitter is that his first time on a plane was today for the rivals challenge.  If I'm him and I have offers from every school in the country I would also use my officials to check them out.  Let's just hope USC fills up before he gets a chance to visit.

So long.
ED: let me clarify.. I just don't think he's coming. Feels like Diamond. But!! I hope he does.
And, I don't blame him for checking out every single school he is remotely interested in. I would have done it if I were in his shoes. Social media makes it appear like some kids are fickle, but you know, it's their right, opportunity and obligation to do what suits them by whatever method they're comfortable. Some kids are like Shane, and some need to figure it out differently.

Good luck to him, and I hope he comes to the good guys. If he doesn't, this is Michigan, and it's about The Team. The guys who come will come because they want to be part of the culture that is being created, and the tradition.

That's all I meant. Good luck to LT.

Point of interest not worthy of a thread... I'm watching the Olympic track trials and one of the leaders in the decathlon is a McQuay from the University of Florida. I'm assuming there's a relation there without looking it up cus I'm on my phone. Those are some athletic bloodlines if so.

On a more relevant note, does anyone know how fast Bailey is? His Espn profile lists a 4.7 forty, which is, yeah. He can clearly juke his way out of.a phone booth but people talk about him like he's a speedster. Wondering where that comes from.

There should be a fan section on the recruiting rankings of individuals. If so you would have seen that our fanbase has went from warm to cool in the last two weeks.  Unfortunately for our team my gut is on one helluva win streak.....I had that last several "50-50" recruits going away from UM with the exception of Poggi and I feel the same with LT.  I'm cool with it...we will be fine.

As for pure speculation...perhaps UM cooled on him to take the Armwood package deal.  I'd be happy with that.

So what if he wants to visit another school? He's a kid with a ton of offers from around the country, and he wants to see what's out there. I would do the exact same thing. Nothing is over until NSD. I think we still are the school to beat, but only Laquon really knows that.

Jordan Diamond part II.  He apparently is still searching for something different than UM can offer.  And no I am not saying the kid wants to get paid.  Just saying that he is obviously not sold on UM after numerous visits and it looks doubtful at this point.

If he was going to commit, he would have done so already. Whatever he's looking for, Michigan doesn't apparently have it. It's time to move on. Next.

LT is looking for any reason to not commit to UM.   I think he likes UM but wants something more.

If we still want him I hope he doesn't read this board, people have passed a lot of judgement. It's June. Give the kid a break. If he chooses Michigan great. If something else fits him better best of luck to him.
Seriously, calling him annoying? WTF is that? This kid is making an important life decision and people are bothered because it's not on their schedule, get over yourself.
Good luck whatever you decide LT, and Go Blue!

Edit-just noticed "annoying" comment guy is new, he could be trolling to make Michigan look bad.

Most of the posts in this thread are ridiculously stupid. Whenever he's asked, he lists us as one of his favorites. He also hasn't committed to a school OTHER THAN Michigan yet, which, by some of the logic in this thread, suggests that he's a Michigan lock. Beyond that, if you could get away with it as a recruit, wouldn't you take a few free trips to see some of the best programs - and games - in the country?

My feelings about the probability of a Treadwell commitment haven't changed much. I think that probability is a little less than 50%, but it's higher than for any other program.
