OT: 6-12-12 World Series Preview Tigers vs Cubs
love campana and that SS for the cubbies
The Cubs shitcanned their hitting coach today.
And the field at Wrigley Field does look awful. I'd quit having concerts there for a while.
Maholm looking like the lefty starter the Tigers could use. He looks unhittable after 2. Probably got a decent pitch count going, but I wouldn't know, I haven't tuned into the radio broadcast.
Going back to that conversation this past weekend, I'd rather have Dickerson and Price than Rizz and Rathbun. I don't need to hear R&R tell us that "Gee, the Tigers dropped a 14-2 heartbreaker to the Sweet Valley High School Raiders. We'll be right back to look at the happy totals right after this."
The best thing they did was take the PBP away from Price. He was brutal there. If they keep him to short comments, he does quite well, and he's been quite blunt this season about things he has seen out of the Tigers.
Listening to some others (the White Sox radio guys, and the Indians' Tom Hamilton come to mind immediately), I think we've got it pretty good here.
Yeah but one of the two, Rizz or Rathbun, Rizz I think, had a great home run call. "Good Bye Baseball". I loved that call
Too much Hawk Harrelson-type commentary (note: I find him to be a completely unprofessional hack who needs the living shit kicked out of him).
Every homer from Mark McGwire or Ken Griffey Jr. was a little wind-blown pop fly that just happened to creep up into the 23rd row of the upper deck, and every Gary Pettis homer that barely got out was a rocket that almost knocked down Tiger Stadium all by itself.
I liked Dickerson back in the day when he did Michigan football games, too. I guess that's what got me hooked on him. He seemed to be a natural replacement for Ernie when it was time.
When they were auditioning TV guys a few years ago, the one I really liked was Darrell Evans. I liked what he had to say, he made sense, but he mumbled too much. Had he been more vocal and a little more emphatic, he could have been wonderful.
I'm not hating on Dickerson, he awright. It is the combination of and interaction between Price and Dickerson I find nauseating.
Price is just awful.
Looking at that OF grass destroyed, and Walls with stupid weeds (ivy) growing all over Wrigley can't be better.
4 pitch walk, swinging bunt, wild pitch, soft ground out and Tigers down 1-0.
Seems to be squeezing him a bit here early. Even with the wind blowing in Wrigley isn't a huge park, can't expect him to just groove FBs down the pipe.
with his 7th home run of the season already and he's only in his 40th game. Walks a decent amount too. Amazing how immediately he's fit in at the MLB level.
It will be interesting to see who has the better career him or Mike Trout who is hitting somewhere around .360 and is an absolute blazer in Centerfield.
The cute girl in the Tiger jersey didn't seem to thrilled to be sitting next to the Tiger fan with the spiked orange hair. Can't say that I blame her
Not trying to thread jack but.... What is the worst commercial that runs on FSD during Tiger games? All the Bernstein commercials are bad, but I think Rod Allen's Ace commercial has to be the worst. The worst Bernstein commercial is the one when the visually impaired Bernstein talks about what a great guy his brother is. Horrible commercial
Every Little Caesars commercial, especially the ones that have the singing. "Nobody gives you THE PRICES, like we do." Can't stand it.
THAT ONE RIGHT HERE!!! That one is worse than the group of Dumbass Daddy commercials, where the guy apparently is incapable of getting a $5 pizza.
The Sam Bernstein ads are a close second.
Dr Rahmani. You should too.
I'm just happy they got Richard Bernstein to aim his head in the right direction. He can't help it. It's not his fault. It's the producer's fault.
This is an extremely quick and boring baseball game. I don't recall a hard hit ball
It appears we left the offense in Cincy, 7K's against Paul Maholm..../smh
Are you really surprised though? It's almost predictable that the offesnes struggles against soft tossers. Swinging early in the count and behind all night lets those offspeed pitches off the plate be even more effective.
Blargh those 3 runs seem so insurmountable the way we've swung the bat tonight, but who knows I guess.
I see we found the National League version of Delmon Young. Over there they call him Alfonso Soriano.
I think Delmon still wins that contest.
Thank you Bud Selig for your inexplicable opposition to instant replay...
I like that Wrigley still has an organ. I wish Ilitch would bring that back.
No.
We have to hear "EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS!!!!" three times an inning, followed quickly by "DEY-O!!"
Nice AB's there from Ramon, and AJ, keep it up guys.
Is it just me or has the home plate ump been epically bad tonight? Just because the pitcher doesn't hit the catcher's target does not mean it is a ball.
The strike zone has moved quite a bit tonight, especially to the left-handers, everything at the knees has also been called a ball which is odd.
Let's see if Coke implodes after a bad play behind him.
Poor fielding by Prince coupled with Coke implosions after a bad play might not be a rare sight this season
They ruled that play a hit? Really?
watching Coke pitch. He spits 5,847 times every outing and the camera has to catch almost all of them.
At least tonight they are showing the far shot of him and we dont have to see that.
does suck at 1st.
I watched his fathers whole career here and i dont remember him being that big of a butcher at first like Prince is.
That's been a ball all night long, stupid ass umpires.
I hope the Cubs never get to or win the World Series. It would ruin the best sight gag in speculative fiction movies.
Fucking christ this defense...and the umpires.
Coke did what he was supposed to do
One small chopper that nobody could make a play on. Just bad luck.
Easy ground ball to short and a terrible throw to second.
Easy ground ball to short and a terrible throw to first.
Ugh.
Peralta fucks up but doesn't get helped by Ump as it looks like Santiago was on bag.
Also similar looking play and he goes to 1st insteada 2nd and pulls Prince off the bag (didnt see replay? looked close). Result: 1 run for the cubs Not Cokes Fault.
Defense isn't going to win us any games but they certainly can't continue to lose them for us. Ugly ugly display in the bottom of the 8th there.
Fuck. We're going to lose a series to the fuckin cubs. Porcello is getting drunk right now realizing he needs to become a strikeout pitcher.
And there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Jhonny probably won't sleep much tonight. Sheesh.
But neither should Larry Vanover or Tony Randazzo. Jhonny will get crucified (and rightly so) but how Officials still aren't held accountable in all sports is a joke.
