Off to a good start at least: 4-0 after 1 inning. All from singles and a wild pitch, though. Just saw a stat today that 64% of Detroit's home runs have been solo shots. That sucks.

The Tigs need to turn the season around in Cincinnati this weekend. If they can pull it together before the All-Star Break, I think they stand a chance at making the playoffs. I'll be attending the games at Great American Ballpark tomorrow night and Saturday afternoon. Go Tigers!

Enjoy it! GABP is a great stadium. I lived in Cincy when they opened it. When I was a kid, we would go see games in Riverfront/Cinergy Field. Anybody here old enough to have gone to a game at Crosley Field?

Limit your expectations on Crosby today because the Tribe have what seems to be an all lefty lineup, and their switch hitters are much better as lefties. Crosby can be solid if he finds the strike zone, I saw him in live in Toledo this year and he has a few plus pitches but is very wild. Him and Andy Oliver seem like the same person.

Tigers are back!!!

As long as Crosby stays away from a 4 walk inning capped by a Grand Slam, I think the Tigers might be ok today.

Too many times this season the Tigers have scored early and went into hibernation the rest of the game; need to change that trend in the next couple of innings.

Fantasy baseball question for whoever wants to answer. I was offered Brandon Beachy, Elvis Andrus, and Mike Adams( yes our league includes holds) for McCutcheon and Hosmer, thoughts? My starting pitching kinda blows and do does my SS I'm starting Alcides Escobar /puke.

Yeah, I think I'd do it, especially if your pitching is weak. McCutcheon is a terrific outfielder, and Hosmer does seem to be turning a corner, but I think you're just as well off with Dunn at first. You're massively improving your shortstop position, which is a shallow position, and Beachy and Adams are solid. Your biggest dropoff is in the outfield, but I think you'll make up for it with Beachy/Adams.

Come on Casey, just got to work through this...

Edit: Atta boy! Nice job by the rook to get out of that jam. I feel like that's the first time in a while that we've had something good happen right when we needed it to happen. Now let's chase Lowe!

Don't know much about this site but speculation is Benoit may have a sore arm.

http://www.thedetroitsportssite.com/2012/06/06/alex-avila-to-dl-bryan-holaday-jose-ortega-called-up-by-detroit-tigers/18504

Ortega took Santos’ spot on the 25-man roster, adding another arm to the Tigers’ bullpen. Why did Detroit opt for Ortega, who’s walking a batter an inning at Toledo this season and posted a 6-plus ERA in 2010?

It may be because Joaquin Benoit’s sore arm is still bothering him. It also may be because the 25-30 Tigers are now making roster moves like this these days:

Hopefully thats true and Boesch turns it around. Also could've probably been found a bit quicker if video were used by the manager...

And fielder continues to struggle fielding. I don't recall hearing complaints about his defense before he came over.

Well, if that's the case, then I'll be thrilled. But, check this out:

That's a huge sample size for him, and it's not good at all. Plus, maybe I've just never paid close enough attention, but has he always let go of the bat with his left hand on his follow through?

Bigger issue is perception for him. He isn't a young prospect anymore, and his play in RF must have taken notes from DY and Magglio at the end of his time.

To my untrained eye his issue appears to be a shitty 2 strike approach (or one that is undistinguishable from his normal swing, and a combination of being too aggressive and having a poor eye. His bat seems fast enough, but no need to try to hit a 5 run home run everytime he's at bat.

is that the best Defensive OF since... i don't even know. 2+ Defenders in the OF would be something i'm not accustom to. Heck at least not having someone in the OF who is a rollercoaster every flyball would be nice. (Magglio's bat was still fine as he got older but boy did his defense become an adventure) say nothing of the drains that were Damon, Sheffield, Thames, Carlos...

Is that more likely or with how the season is going is it more likely for one of our pitchers to go on the DL related to batting/baserunning?

Fucking NL

Edit: Woo! victory. Over an AL central team we should beat.

And i hope we fucked up Kipnis' knee only to the extent  where he can play but isn't nearly as effective. Can't stand him for some reason, and Cleveland doesn't deserve nice things.

I share your sentiment about the NL, I can't stand seeing our pitchers step up to the plate. I just want them bunting every chance possible.

Kipnis looks way to good to only be in his 1st full season in the Bigs, I wonder what the Tribe will do with Fransisco Lindor because the middle of their infield is young and talented.
