Clearly, he didn't want to be a real-life Tacopants at Texas. Little McCoy and David Ash are not good.

What the bleep is going on in TX?  They get to pretty much skim the cream off the best recruiting state in football, but they still can't find a decent QB?  If I was a TX fan, it would be driving me nuts.

I don't blame this kid for leaving.

..he decommitted because he wants to play basketball too. Add on the fact that we're tight on scholarships and could be filled up at the WR position in the next couple of months, I wouldn't get my hopes up for even an offer to come through.

Delusional about what?  If it's expecting success, then they've got a long way until ND.  Three seasons ago they played for a national championship.  They've had 10+ win seasons for 10 straight years until two seasons ago, and 5 or 6 conference championships to go with it.  I like how two bad seasons now make everyone think TX sucks.  The world has a short memory.

No. Not really. And they shouldn't be, given his success. After the 5 - 7 season two years ago, Mack completely cleaned house with his coordinators.  The new ones appear to be doing well and the team definetly was playing better by the end of last season.  Deloss Dodds (the AD) just signed Mack to a longer contract to prevent negative recruiting.

The general theory is when Deloss steps down Mack will take over as AD and the feeling is Deloss is not going anywhere anytime soon. He is widely regarded as one of the best AD's in the country. In fairness, he has a ton of money to work with, but he still is fielding competitive teams in many mens and womens sports.

Reports indicate he's now looking at LSU, TAMU, Baylor, and Texas.  when he commited he was down to LSU and Texas.  I suspect he either has had second thoughts (or got a bigger check) from LSU, or he's just trying to force Texas' hand on a basketball scholie.

Michigan is not anywhere in this race.

Most schools don't want their players to play football and basketball. It's not about the scholarship, but that he wants to actually play and not be a bench-warmer, which makes it a lot harder to accommodate. I think South Carolina just had a kid like this, and Spurrier forced him to decide after 1 season

I think we've made enough progress with Treadwell that extending this other kid an offer might put Treadwell off a little bit. I don't think extending him an offer is necessary, and even if we did it, I think it might be to the point where other schools are so high on his list that we'd have no realistic chance of catching up.

I don't know....

Treadwell right now is exactly what Jordan Diamond was a year ago.  Not saying it wil turn out the same way.  Loved Michigan, visited all the time, was close with the commits.  Eventually he committed elsewhere.  As of right now, LT knows he wants to be a Wolverine.  The only place we can go is down.  They need to lock him up sooner rather than later, but the longer LT waits, the more we need to have backup plans.

All we need is Treadwell or an equal talent wr at this point.  We got some solid talent and good depth at wr in the last two classes but we need that game changer.

This has nothing to do with us. Do you think the coaches would risk all of the goodwill they've built up with Laquon to go after a Texas decommit whom they haven't even offered yet and probably have no shot at?

The coaches aren't offering or not offering other kids depending on how LT would feel about it. That would be incredibly disingenuous.
They can't act as if they have LT, if they like Seals and think they have a shot they will go after him. I assume it's far too late for that though.

I think Seals-Jones is eventually going to end up as a tight end, so his position seems a little irrelevant to LaQuon Treadwell's.  Regardless, I don't know that this coaching staff would go after a decommit with this few spots remaining.  They've built up relationships with several kids, one of whom I think will come to Michigan (whether it's Treadwell or Allen or LaRue or someone else).

I think that they should at least extend an offer and see if there is any interest, and if there is take both.  Just tell LT that he has a spot locked up regardless.  I know scholarship numbers are tight but you don't pass on a top 25 player just because you are worried about scholarships. (i'm  not saying that there even is interest....but in the event that there is)

If it is true that he wants to play both basketball and football, then Baylor is probably the best fit, but I'm not sure any top-flight recruit should try to play two sports anymore.  Just too much effort is required for both sports, and in most cases guys go from basketball to football, not the other way around.

Treadwell is who we want.. Dont need to mess with a Kid who has one decommit under his belt...A 6'6 WR with shane morris would be Sick though

Treadwell claims he doesnt have any favorites. I would love to have this kid but I think this might end up being an Isaac situation. The staff works so hard to get an early established relationship going and in the end another school pulls the rug out from beneath you. If that happens, this board will have biggest meltdown ever.
