TESOE

BFD - this is good for the kids’ self-esteem -not so good for their skill development.  The Opening, Sparq training, elite camps ... this is more the ground work for the future commercialization of these athletes.

Has any coach endorsed this "training"?  No.  It's money. Connections will be made.  Business is what business does.  This isn't the only example of this but Nike is perhaps the most affluent.  If that makes this a BFD then BFD.

I support these athletes.  I'm happy for Jake.  The Opening... I don't think it means much in the end.  The sleds weigh about the same throughout the country.  Give me some football... not Combine Jr.

That said ... I might go and check it out (not that there is much for the public) if I can get out of lawn care duties.  Life is full of hypocrisy.

Clicked the link to the opening twitter account and saw Ross Douglas add a hash tag about Breneman saying #weare. Is that a PSU thing? And if so did they not steal it from Marshall?

From this article, the "We are Penn State" came before Marshall's version.

Marshall University unofficial sports historian and radio broadcaster Woody Woodrum said, "I remember them starting the cheer in the late eighties at Fairfield Stadium. I don't remember what the thing was that really got it going."

"I had heard that cheer before at Penn State when I was up there back in the late seventies and early eighties, we are Penn State: “We are, Penn State.”

So, late seventies for PSU, and late eighties for Marshall.

Not sure, the only one I remember for sure is Magnuson.

But TomVH just tweeted this:

Michigan's 2013 class: 20 commits, 16 four-stars, 11 ESPN150's, 7 Under Armour All Americans, 6 invites to The Opening
