Huge 1-5-3 DP to get out of the 1st.
hot down there. MGB is surprised Wagner got the start today.
sara gets the start in game3

The game?
Woo hoo!! HR by Amanda C
CHIDDY BOOM! Amanda Chidester with a home run, and Michigan leads 1-0!
B-1-G!! B-1-G!!
See, we can do it too, now.
That was Chidester's 200th career RBI.
They're wearing white and are batting in the bottoms.
jeez....this bama team just rakes at the plate. Might have to put up 4 or 5 runs to pull this one out.
Shit.
Toothless wonders...I mean alabama scores. tied 1-1.
I'm surprised Wisconsin isn't better at softball. They must produce the most girls/capita with similar physiques than anyone.
And probably half are huge as well. Jennie Finch is 6'0, which is a solid inch or two taller than any of the VS models. There are probably a dozen pitchers still playing this year that come close to 200lbs, as well (Finch looks skinny at 170, Abbot weighs 190 and doesn't look "big")
That ump was making the out signal before the shortstop even caught the ball. BS.
that is an ugly bunting display with these last 2 ab's
nice job kirpatrick.....leads us to a 2-1 lead.
Fantastic Bunt. Now Let's Capitalize with 2 outs.
EDIT: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
bree follows up with an rbi herself.....3-1 blue
For those of us blocked at work, any play by play detail would be appreciated...
Excellent... the internet police here haven't found that one to block. Yet. Thanks.
End of the second. Traina actually looked rattled for a bit, but that's not something I would count on.
Please no bewbs in this thread - I don't need to get in trouble for looking at porn - without getting the satisfaction of looking at porn. Thanks.
Took advantage of the errors.
Nice.
Is Wagner a lefty?
No. She's just throwing with the left for now, and she'll switch to her dominant hand to close it out.
Ridiculous that you can start to swing, get your hands over the plate and it can still be considered a hit by pitch
Push for that game 3, VAMOS AZUL!
Big strikeout. 2 down in the top of the 4th. Runner on 2nd
Bothers me so much for some reason, I just can't put my finger on it.
I was just looking back at the Hello: Haylie Wagner post by MGoSoftball and dang - I didn't realize she is 6'0"... That's some good leverage!
I don't really know softball, but looks like she threw a lot of pitches in the top of the 4th. Struck out 2 looking, gave up a hit (and runner stole 2nd), and hit a batter. Nice job getting out of the jam, though with runners on 1st/2nd and 2 outs after a ground out.
According to MGoBlue.com, Haylie Wagner is 5'7".
http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/wagner_haylie00.html
well, that's some major discrepancy. I'll trust mgoblue on this one. Incidentally, the alabama pitcher, jackie traina, is listed at 5'11" on the alabama website.
As for the game, Michigan goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 4th. Top of the 5th coming up.
is definitely on the shorter side. 5'7 is the same height as the shortest pitcher on MGB's team, and she's 3/4 on Michigan. Driesenga is 6'1, Payne is 5'10, Wagner is 5'7 and Speierman is 5'6.
Monica Abbot (one of the all-time NCAA greats) clocks in at 6'3 190. Now that's a big pitcher.
that the longer arm = more speed and control. I know a few pitching coaches that are collecting this data. I prefer taller kids too.
Although my daughter was only 5'1" and she threw in the high 50s.
MGB has been teaching me some pitching this week, and I've been asking her what she thinks, and she buys into big hands, long arms, strong and long legs. She's 5'10 though, so she doesn't have much of a reason to disagree with conventional wisdom.
Plus a longer leap can shorten the distance to the plate 2.5 percent per foot. A long leap and a long arm puts her right on the batter.
Everytime they say Jackie Traina I keep thinking Jackie Treehorn
It went about 235 feet. Game tied 3-3 in the top of teh 5th.
Do softball team benches always clear and crowd home plate to celebrate home runs in the middle of an inning like that? I feel like the overall amount of cheerleading from the benches is a little excessive
Softball is a game of energy. If you spend enough time around the diamonds you will hear a cheer for every possible situation.
They clear the benches on HRs and between innings too. It is way different than baseball.
Avoid little girl's softball games. The cheering and chants are relentless. You could not pay me enough to coach a little girl's team. You couldn't pay me to work concessions either.
Ugh. I think the single was gonna be safe even without the drop, but the homer was plain clutch.
The game center things lists 3 RBIs for bama, but only shows them with 2 runs...
EDIT: thanks.
