Would you want to see these M throwbacks again?
With all of these throwback jerseys coming out with Michigan Hockey, it made me think of a one-time experiment Michigan did back in the 2008-09 basketball season.
They wore throwbacks by adidas of the 1989 NCAA Championship team against ohio for one time only. They weren't sold to the public.
I really wouldn't mind seeing these back on the floor at Crisler. They don't trigger seizures like the road legacy uniforms did back in October, and they are really accurate.
Thoughts?
Just like the hockey, don't like the "Block M" as the start of the "MICHIGAN" on the jersey.
But MOAR BIG BLOCK M on shorts. And bigger.
I never understood why under Amaker, we went back to the Fab Five uniforms but made the M much smaller.
I don't mind something differnt every once in a while.
So no, no I wouldn't. But throwbacks that are actual replicas of jerseys worn in earlier times are considerably less offensive than jerseys "inspired by previous eras".
Never forget: The Five, the MSU throwback atrocities, and Mike Jones
I enjoy the throwbacks that are actually jersey styles worn in previous years. The frankenstein-esq abomniations that we saw against MSU should never be seen again.
Did we even pretend that the MSU game jerseys were throwbacks? I didn't think we did.
I did like the Under the Lights jerseys. I love the giant M. When they switched it around for the MSU game (with the small M and large number) it wasn't the same.
MOAR maize
We wore Maize seemingly every possible home and away game last year. There's only so much maize you can fit into one season. They are some goodlooking jerseys though.
Throwbacks would be cool, but I'd rather have the Fab Five style, Big "M" short jerseys.
Didn't the NCAA put the kibosh on having the numbers off to the side?
I'd be down for this type of throwback....
2013 would be a great time to do it. Also, black shoes, black socks please.
Was the M on the right side supposed to be higher than the one on the left or did we just have serious quality control issues? The M on, what I believe to be, Webber's shorts is much lower than the other pair (is that Jimmy or Jalen?)
It was supposed to be on the bottom. It looks like, on the other player's shorts, like the manufacturer (Russell Athletic) forgot how long the shorts were going to be and then added the extra length at the last minute, after the M had been added.
but the block M at the start of 'Michigan' looks really stupid, regardless of sport
Jeez Novak, that haircut ain't making it.
It was part of the throw back theme. I actually like the BLock M for special occassions. Block M on the shorts should be always and forever.
So leather helmets, no pads in football? I could get behind that.
NEED MOAR LEG SHOWING!
I played hoops in the late 80's era. We were transitioning from pure hip huggers to a slightly looser style. Being thin (OK, skinny), I applauded any shorts that were longer and looser. I felt so exposed in tighty pants.
The content of your post+your MGoAlias=symbiosis
Anything that doesn't involved those moon boots he is wearing would be a plus for me... With those shoes on it looks like he's wearing 4 sizes too big of everything.
I've accepted the fact that whatever "throwbacks" Adidas comes up with are going to be just terrible. All we can do is wait out the current contract that expires after the 2015 season and try to get Brandon to switch back to Nike at that time. Nike's stuff looks better, feels better, is better quality, and players, recruits and fans tend to favor it over Adidas by a wide margin.
You do realize that these are replicas of the 1989 uniforms, right? Adidas didn't "come up" with them.
Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I actually love those jerseys and wish I had the money to buy one after the game (each player's was auctioned off for something). There is a picture of Stu from the Braylon Edward's charity basketball game this year and it looks like he wore the shorts from this game. I would love to see us bring these back once a year and would most definitely buy one. The ones sold right now are not even replicas of the actual jerseys we wear, so I'm not a big fan.
I like them, too, although not more than the Fab Five uniforms. I'd be okay with breaking them out once in a rare while.
Can we throw back to the days when teams wore the same normal looking uniform the whole season?
I've never liked the big M and then ichigan...looks lame.
and i like the shorts a lot better now that they're not short. however, i'd like to see them do the script Michigan across the chest like baseball and hockey did a few years ago. the script Michigan was my fave hockey jersey
I don't mind them that much because they remind me of the national championship team.
Since the '89 team won the ttile in them they are pretty cool. But in term of general looks, I think the closer you get to the Fab 5 era jerseys, the better off you are. Not because they were the Fab 5 jerseys, but because that simple style just looked great.
I think this was the best looking jersey Michigan has ever worn:
I for one hope Michigan never goes back to Nike. Like the gear now better. Nike doesn't know squat about hockey, while adidas owns the Reebok brand.
