OT UPDATE on missing UM student

So strange.

Hopefully there are things they are not releasing, because based on what we know I don't know how they can come to a conclusion either way on his whereabouts or condition. Hopefully he is okay and just got caught up in a bad situation.

Is this a case of a kid finally being caught out on his lie to his parents and disappearing to avoid the fallout?

While I was still at Michigan several years ago there was a friend of ours that fell into a similar situation. This person had a mental illness (undiagnosed at the time) and had constructed a completely fictional life for themself without anyone knowing. It involved a job, a house, travel, quitting school, etc. And no one knew. Finally the financial aspect of it started to unravel and this person's parents figured it out and got the necessary medical attention.

Mom shows up to graduation. 

He disappeared the night before.

He hasn't been enrolled since Apr 19, 2011.

He bought a copy of the Yearbook and had his senior picture taken.

Reports of him being seen on North Campus.

This kid has turtled and is hiding from everyone.

Glad to hear he is ok.

at the end of the day I hope the kids okay, but if he's just hiding from his parents to avoid telling the truth, he has made his situation so much worse.

It seems like the poor kid had a mental breakdown after some sort of sustained buildup of pressure in his life. When you haven't been enrolled in school for the past year and your mom obliviously shows up for your graduation, you've probably got some serious issues. 

that the kid either had a full ride to attend or was paying for school himself (unlikeliest of the two options I would guess) because if the parents were paying, they would be receiving tuition bills, wouldn't you think?
