I just did a search on twitter for Van Bergen to find his page, but instead saw all the other people talking about him. Apparently a lot of Steelers fans wanted him, and it sounds like there are quite a few fans of a variety of teams disappointed that he signed so fast. Good for him! Glad to see all his dedication and hard work paying off.

First UDFA signing, correct?

The thought of a 6'6 288lb defenseman scares the shit out of me as a forward. That is, of course, if he could move (I'm guessing no); still, if he could line you up it'd be over for you.

Anyway, congrats to RVB. He deserves all the good things soon to come to him.

was quick.. I guess being a rookie free agent has it's benifiets also. I am very happy for him, and they are not world beaters on defense so that is great for him to get a chance to play early in his career with the Panthers. I actually can't name one D- lineman they have since Peppers left.

Good deal and he's definitely going to a franchise back on the rise with a young phenom in Newton. He should get a good look on the d line.

I really think he would have been drafted in one of the late rounds had he not been injured.  I suspect injury had something to do with Molk getting drafted as late as he was too.  They were instrumental in team 132's success, and I will never forget how they toughed it out, despite their injuries, to help win the Sugar Bowl.

I'm more than excited for this signing!! I was pulling for them to take Martin and/or Hemmingway, but I'll happily take anyone from Team 132

Should have a nice career.  He definitely showed an ability to compete against some top talent, and hopefully he'll have a chance to showcase his skills in Carolina.
