Fucking brilliant second quarter by Weiss.  Might've been the best second quarter we played all year, except for forgetting that the clock was running out.  (Coach Paul shouldn't have sat on the last timeout, either.)

Great first half. Crowd is about 50/50 michigan and rutgers fans, due to the alumni clubs organizing a tailgate and supplying Oberon! Not often that we get to see a Michigan varsity team in NJ and we're taking full advantage. Makes me proud to be a wolverine to see the fam support, Go Blue!

Another very strong showing by Team One. They were taking it to rutgers for awhile there.

Unreal that the season ends in two weeks (Michigan has a bye next Saturday).

1. The Michigan alumni and fans were great, and I have to believe that the Rutgers Coach was pissed off with how loud and vocal we were.

2. Emil Weiss single-handedly kept us in the game with his tremendous work, and I will look forward to watching him play for 3 more years.

3. Rutgers owned the faceoff circle, and I would imagine that we will be loading up in recruting here.

4. While it was disappointing to lose a game that was so close, I was really impressed with what I saw from our team. You boys did us proud.

5. Any of the young players in attendance had to be impressed with our fans, and I would hope that we could establish some inroads in NJ lacrosse communities. While this is not NY or MD, I cannot think of any state that produces as many good players outside of those two. Also, given our huge alumni base in the NYC and Philly metro areas, we should get a few good players every year.

well cant chime in too much on the technical commentary, but as to #1 - the alums, fans and family tonight were fantastic.  think we managed to completely dominate and fluster the rutgers crowd, so thats good. was nice to show the boys some away game support in year 1.  they showed great promise... tough loss but seems like good things to come from the team.

Finally got to see Team One play live! Echo the two comments above. Great tailgate scene today, and the rain held off for the whole game. M crowd completely out-cheered the home team crowd. Good game too. This team plays really hard. They just don't have all the pieces yet. They will build up the talent over the next few years. I'm very proud of them and to be an alum of the club team that has morphed into the new varsity team. Weiss looked great aside from a few clearing mistakes. He is special. Will be interesting to see if he has competition for the starting spot as D1 recruits arrive. Swaney had an incredible behind the back goal. Long sticks don't score often, and when they do it usually doesn't look like his did. Could have been a sportscenter top 10 play if this had been a tv game. Face offs have been a struggle most of the year. Brad Lott coming next year should help, and they'll have more athletes for the wings.

I would imagine that it will only be a metter of time before some West coast schools add lacrosse.  I known BYU, Chapman, Cal Poly, Oregon and Arizona State all have good lacrosse programs at the MCLA level.  There are a lot of California schools that have decent programs, so i would imagine that it would take a commitment for a group of schools prior to just a single school taking the jump.  I couldn't imagine the budget for a lax team to travel east  from Cali for at least 7 weeks a season.

If anyone wants to scout UNC they are playing Duke in the ACC Championship  on ESPN U right now.  Its tied 2-2.  Carolina has some tiny but extraordinarily quick attackmen.  Michigan's gonna have their hands full.  Enjoy!
