Craig Roh

Submitted by Thrillhouse on

There seems to be some movement on the Craig Roh front. Is he going to announce schools soon or something? Scout seems to be trying to create the impression through their headlines that LaLota announcing tomorrow has somehow made Roh change his timetable and/or college choice.

2 defensive ends play at once, and even though UM had 2 established, excellent ones right now, this staff is rotating at least 2 other players (Banks, Van Bergen) onto the field pretty regularly. So - there is unquestionably room for more than a single defensive end in this class to get regular PT somewhat early, given that we have basically only 2 DE's on the roster next year (Banks and Van Bergen).

Even though Patterson has been getting less run this year than Banks, he's also a strong side defensive end type.  He'll be a senior next year as well.  And with Shafer running the Okie defense fairly frequently, people like Sagesse and Dequinta Jones could play some DE, too.

...would play a bigger role than LaLota's.  And I don't think either matters that much.  I am not an OMG INSYDERZ, so that's pure speculation.

Also, a prospect can only take 5 official visits, but he can take as many unofficials as he wants.  Which is usually why a player with a lot of offers will only take unofficials to the schools near his home and save the officials for the schools which are farther away (more expensive).

It almost certainly isn't his last visit to his top-5, as he made the comment that when he visited Michigan (for the Utah game) it was the first Division I football game he had ever attended.

This gives a pretty solid breakdown of official vs. unofficial:

Essentially, the difference is funding. On an official visit, the school pays for transportation, lodging, meals, and "reasonable" entertainment exepenses (Colorado proved that this does not include hookers). you can only take 5.

Unofficial visits are unlimited, but the school can, at most, only provide complimentary tickets to three University sporting events. No meals, lodging, transportation, or "entertainment".

"(Colorado proved that this does not include hookers)."

I'm still confused why 17 year old athletes needed to have someone pay for sex for them.  Maybe Antonio Henton as OSU can explain.

I don't think the Colorado recruits were aware they were hookers? I was under the impression that Barnett didn't want to leave them getting laid to chance.

Does anyone know what sort of a DE Roh is? Most experts seem to think that LaLota isn't much of a pass-rusher (at least not on the college level) but more of a rock vs. the run type. Obviously, this can change, given his limited experience, etc. Is Roh thought of as an elite pass-rusher? Or a similar run-stopper?
