EJ Levenberry to Announce Mid-August

Submitted by a2_electricboogaloo on

ESPN WolverineNation just ran an article (link here) where that EJ's father stated that his son plans to commit to one of his three top schools mid-August, and not at an All-American game as was thought before.

This is good news in my opinion, I'm just hoping they'd think about moving up the timetable on this even more....say this Saturday.

(As a note, the article is an "ESPN Insider" article, however, all the info I got was available in the free header)

Didn't he once say he was not going to annouce until signing day or the all american game or something like that?   Maybe I am thinking of someone else..

Anyway, I see this as good news.

Of course the fact that he announced this as he is visiting Michigan (I think he is there right now) could be taken as a good sign (especially given earlier comments about maybe committing on this visit).  Its all about how you want to view it.

How about this:I'll be optimistic about this news and you be pessimistic, that way one of us will be right (unless he picks OK)

For what it's worth, Levenberry was quoted saying his after his week long stay at FSU that they were now tied with Michigan.  I honestly think that's great news for us.  If a kid can come off a week long visit to Florida and have us tied with him, it gives us a great oppertunity to make a solid seperation this weekend.   If he would have come out saying FSU was his only leader I think it would be different, but the fact that we are tied after that kind of visit is good news in my opinion.

But the coaches will be holding out for a few kids that will announce on Signing day/respective AA game.  The major needs have been hit on pretty well by the coaching staff and they can hold out for top talent, so there will still be a hand full of recruits out there at that point that the coaching staff will be after.

This is good news for us.  I have no idea what it says about the probability that he chooses Michigan, but either way, there's plenty of time between August and February for the coaching staff to respond accordingly (i.e. to adjust their plans).  Those signing day announcements can be kind of brutal if you're holding a spot for a kid and then he tells you at the very last minute that he's going elsewhere.

When a linebacker that has Michigan high on his list moves up his commitment date in the same week that we get a linebacker commit, I feel this gives us fans reason to be optimistic. He's feeling the pressure to get in before it is too late,  I think that he's ours.

Why would he be feeling the pressure because of the Gedeon committment? He knows M is holding a spot for him, and M isn't recruiting any other LBs.

we'd still hold a spot for him. We're giving him one of the "best available" scholarships now. If he committed before Gedeon, Gedeon would have been left out, looking in, but that's obviously not the case. To the poster below, the only LB we're recruiting is Levenberry now. Posssibly that 5 star Hutchings kid out of California, but highly unlikely that anything will happen there.

good news for us, while he is the only LB we are recruiting he is most likely lined up into 2-3 "Best Available" slots so those may fill up too if he waited till signing day.

While there will not necessarily be a LB to take his spot, there could be a S (cravens), CB (Fuller) or extra DL/WR that takes the spot that is being held for Levenberry if he waits till next January.  Our class could easily get 7 more guys before then.

Maybe the kid is still undecided between the three schools, but figures he should be able to sort through the decision during the summer.  If it was a done deal for FSU or UM, then the decision could happen shortly after this spring game visit (if FSU) or during the weekend (if UM).

Everyone should experience cold snowy winters in their life. 3-4 years is a good timeframe to experience in my opinion. Also it will adjust him well for the nfl. Yep, that's my sales pitch on Midwest winters.

This was a very mild winter by all accounts.  Chances are that our weather would be very enjoyable for any recruit coming from any of the warm states.  Not to mention, he is from VA i think, and I'm sure that in VA he gets to experience cold weather, rain, snow, and all of the sort.
