Rivals breakdown with Josh Helmholdt (includes Jourdan Lewis video):  http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/recap-adidas-invitational-1103849

ESPN interview with Joe Mathis (video): http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7788099

The two articles below were posted in the Invitational thread earlier, but that thread is now off the first page, so I'll post them again in case they were missed the first time.

Josh Helmholdt ranks the best performers: http://247sports.com/Article/Adidas-Invitational-Top-Performers-69179

1) Jaylon Smith (ND or OSU)
2) Jourdan Lewis
3) Shane Morris
4) David Dawson
5) Kenton Gibbs (Illinois offer, likes UW a lot, no UM offer yet)
6) Malik McDowell (Early UM Lean, only a sophomore)
7) Teo Redding
8) Joe Mathis (UM leads, USC is close)
9) Delano Hill (one of the Cass 5)
10) Luke Maclean

Honorable Mention:

11) Jon Reschke (MSU commit)
12) James Onwualu (ND commit)
13) Jayru Campbell (One of the Cass 5, freshman)
14) Reggie Spearman
15) Berkley Edwards (Braylon's brother)
16) Mike Rogers
17) Chance Stewart (likely a 4* instate QB in class between Shane and Jayru)
18) Dennis Finley
19) Derek Brown
20) Desmond King

CBSsports camp recap:  http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-recruiting/18382326...

-Shane anticipates some big commits coming up (as we've been hearing for awhile)

-Shane's recruiting Smith to show up for the Spring Game (doesn't seem likely)

-More fluff on Jourdan Lewis

-Joe Mathis almost commited on his visit

He said in an interview recently, that he's called Hoke to "clear the air" or whatever.  I think most people have an issue with the fact that he went to twitter first.  Why not call the coaches first if calling them was even an option? Was there a purpose for the rants on twitter and making it such a public issue? It was almost as bad as not calling RR and telling him about the jersey. I felt worse for his brother because 1) it looks like his brother his fighting his battles 2) it'd seem like he was getting looked at for his name at not his own merit.

for Kearney to go to State.  I think it's the fact that Braylon opens his mouth to much and people are sick of it.  I appreciate what he did while at Michigan, but he needs to start worrying more about his job or he won't have one.  One great year and not much else doesn't inspire teams to sign you as a free agent.

I thought it was interesting that Mathis told a couple of the interviewers that he almost committed and that Michigan was pretty much in a top 1 list, but then told Chantel that we were in his top 5 when she asked if we were number 1... Hard to know what to think of that since we don't know what order he did these interviews in.  Could be that after telling people we were 1 he backed off a little to give himself some room.  I hope that's all it is.

Edit: I think he did say we're first in his top 5.  Couldn't really hear.

Morris has been recruiting this whole time since he committed as a sophomore. Since coaches can't call recruits, Shane Morris is doing it for them. Smart man! He is going to be a good Michigan man!

Josh Helmholdt was talking about Jerome Lane Jr being under the radar. I remember his dad playing basketball for Pitt and having a monster dunk that shattered the backboard.

Anyone else remember it?

If Mathis ends up committing, this weekend was obviously critical.  Not only did he get to visit Michigan, he got to develop relationships with current commits at the invitational, and it was clear they were going out of their way to befriend him.... Dawson requesting to take him on one and one... Morris tracking him down... Bosch dropping by even though he wasn't even playing.

It's always hard to read recruits comments, but to tell the media you "almost committed," and to say that you liked Michigan better than USC and UCLA as a California native are both pretty huge, and I think more telling than simply saying the school you just visited in now your number one.  He obviously came away with a really strong gut feeling which makes it sound like Michigan may now be the school to beat.

People feel that Nebraska is another top possibility for him, and he plans on visiting there, but, with only two current commits, he will not find that same camaraderie that gives this Michigan class that special edge.

And to think he almost didn't make it out this weekend at all...

I think it was a comment somewhere, so take it for what it's worth. I'm a bit suspicious of a groin injury that isn't announced by Babcock. It could be anything.
