Joe Mathis Visiting This Weekend (Attempt #2)
As many of you probably read Joe Mathis (4* SDE from California) reported to Tremendous this weekend while going to the Midwest Showcase in Detroit, then cancelled his visit to due to personal reasons. However, there has been another change in plans according to Tremendous:
I'm late to the party, but just confirmed with Joe Mathis that he's coming to Michigan this weekend. Resume your anticipation.
It seems like he will be visiting Ann Arbor on Friday, before going to the Showcase during the weekend. This has the makings of being an important weekend for SDE recruiting, as according to MGoBlueGR:
One remaining need for the class is a strong side DE, so the coaches got 3 different 4 star SDEs to visit this week! #goblue
The two other DEs visiting this weekend are Josh Augusta and Wyatt Teller
Let the excitement recommence.
Well that's good, because about half of ND's real team won't be there.

Trey Burke announces he is staying, and Joe Mathis announces he is coming. It would be a great weekend if both these statements come to fruition.

This is the recruiting version of making sure a girl you like sees you hanging out with other attractive females. The theory is that appearing to be coveted by others makes it more likely that you will coveted by the object of your desire.

It's not like these guys can visit anytime. They're in the area and they should visit if they can. Sure, we'll probably only take one recruit, but any of these guys has the talent we're looking for, and I think having them visit when they can is the smart thing to do. It's not like they'll be talking to Hoke at the same time.
We NEED a SDE, so yes, bring as many as we can find that would be good fits for the program.
As much as I want to get the highest rated prospects like Bosa, who said he'd visit, to commit I have total faith in the coaches and their ability to scout players anymore. If we get a 3 star underweight prospect at every position I have confidence that those kids will play harder for Michigan than any other kid I was hoping for. They sure do know what they're doing in recruiting. Pipkins and Kugler for example.
We need a moderation option for "incomprehensible/suspected day drinking"
Yea, but you need better than a 3 star underweight prospect, which these guys aren't recruiting ... they're recruiting top guys at positions of great need. That's very impressive.
Augusta, Teller, Mathis, and Bosa are all visiting within the next 10 days and are all competing for one SDE spot. Is this a rush to get the final spot? Everyone is trying to get a visit in. How does the coaching staff manage this process and get the best recruit? And waiting in the wings (per 247Sports), Alquadin Muhammad also has interest in Michigan. Below is their composite ranking.
