Some of THE BLOCKHAMS™, I will freely concede, are less autobiographical than others.
I have never had an Indian roommate, and the prospects of sitting down with an NCAA
bracket next to my remote was admittedly something of an alien concept to me.
But today, I must admit, draws on something directly from my own life. There are
enough Michigan tees around here to clothe a small village in Nairobi, and when it's
time to do the laundry it becomes impossible to ignore, and also symbol of pride.
So, yes. We actually do create a Michigan pile when folding the shirts.
And I'm sure many of you can relate or have a similar routine.
OnThursday we'll look at another Michigan take on the more mundane things
in life, the results of which every family must live with year after year.

Yet another timely strip from SixZero! Just last night I was folding the laundry and fuming that some of my Michigan tees were put in the dryer. I cannot risk them shrinking! They must be air dryed and then dried in the dryer for a few short minutes to remove the wrinkles. A receipe for perfection.

I love this. This is exactly what the exchange would be between my wife and me. Good thing I married a Michigan girl!

Yikes, I think Tom might be missing a finger on his left hand, or at least he folds clothes with his fingers in some really funky positions. (Maybe he lost a finger while rushing the field or fighting off a buckeye? Flashback comics could be very interesting.)

I thought the three piles would be maize, blue, and grey. That's what works best for me.

Someone I know took his high school kid to UM this last month to look at the campus. Being from the East Coast, they didn't quite know what to expect. One thing that struck them was that "about half" of the students on campus were wearing Michigan clothing -- T's, sweatshirts, etc. By contrast, two days later they visited William & Mary (in Williamsburg VA), and they saw "only two kids" with W&M clothing. I hadn't thought of it, but it IS in our school's culture to constantly wear the Maize n Blue and all things UM, now including our "1% - Glory to God" t-shirts and our "Worst State Ever" tee.

about the NCAA disinterest? I read your post and thought you were imagining me as some pasty ginger type or something? I'm like, "dude, get in the pool? You think I have a skin condition?"

Yeah, I can relate to this. Last summer, I got tickets for a Tigers game and I knew I had one Tigers shirt in my closet. I found it buried under 12 Michigan shirts.
You need to wash your M clothing in a delicate cycle in cold water and hung dried and then folded neatly in an M pile of course.
Never, ever use the dryer, ever!
