Sam Webb: 2 more commits before/during Spring game weekend

Submitted by Chi-Blue on

So let the guessing begin, especially on the heels of the Treadwell tweet. Sam stated on the RR this morning that he thinks that Michigan will end up taking 24 commits this year, and that he thinks 2 more will be in the fold either before, or directly following the Spring Game. Let the speculation begin . . .

I'll say Treadwell, and Levenberry Jr.

i got nervous when i first read the post.  i saw RR and thought we were going through another coaching search.  don't do that on a Monday!

Someone should start a commit pool.

Here’s a perspective on the top two:

1)  Issac:  We are his leader.  He’s been to SC.  He wants to make an early decision.  He’s put off the media until the Spring Game.  He wants his family to see him play and he’s definitely not putting them on a plane.

2)  Poggi:  We are his leader and he plans to make an early decision.

Others:

3)  Levenberry:   We still lead but he sounds committed to a signing day announcement.  Will he move it up at the game?  Is he still taking visits?  Will he want a seat on the bus when it starts to fill up?

4)  Treadwell:  We probably still lead but he really enjoys the attention of the recruiting process. Not sure he’s ready to give it up so soon.  He will be visiting.  He may feel pressure to jump on the bus.

5)  Webb:   He hasn't visited yet but he’s definatly committed to a Spring decision.  Who  knows who leads for him.  His early decision is because spots are filling up (quote from his dad) so that might mean Michigan.  However, I wouldn’t put it past Urban to try and play that card as well just to pressure a commit for Ohio’s Spring game.  He will be visiting.  Can he resist the commit atmosphere?

6)  Gedeon:  Lot’s of speculation here on a silent commit but M coaches would have little to gain making a silent commit. It makes it tough to maintain the integrity of the recruiting process and these coaches don’t like treat one recruit better than another.  The real risk here is Stanford.  Gedeon is a top A student and rumored to visit Stanford for spring.

7)  Any Spring game visitor is always a chance commit.  Foster, Bosa?  Who else is visiting?

8)  WR:  There is the rumored WR commit.   Is this Treadwell or is it someone else who has visited?

I know this is off-topic, but I'm very new to the site, and I am nowhere close to having 100 points.  There are two articles (ESPN and Dispatch) that are reporting Chris Wormley is now 6' 8" (!).  Most of the 2012 profiles had him at 6' 6".

For those of you who are experts, such as Magnus, or Ace, do you think 6' 8" is too tall for a SDE?  With his height, does Wormley seem to be more in the mold of say Alan Branch?

Mods -- feel free to hide this post if you think it's too far off-topic.

1. TomVH wrote the ESPN article, and I doubt he'd just blindly take info from the dispatch unless he knew it to be true.

2. The ESPN article was written before the game, and the dispatch article was a recap of the game.  So unless TomVH is blindly taking info from dispatch articles, from the future, I'd guess your guess is wrong.

It could be the other way around though.

I don't think 6'8" is too tall for SDE, but I heard he was going to be playing a 3-tech, and I'm not sure if that makes a difference but I can't remember a DT that tall.  I think Tommy Gholston is listed at 6'8" for MSU, and he's playing SDE just fine at that size.  Julius Peppers is 6'7" I believe.

Also, as is the case with a lot of HS heights, I bet there's at least an inch added on.  Although I had heard from a couple reports that he was a legit 6'7", so who knows.  My guess is that if he showed up at the combine today, he's be measured at a true 6'6", but he could have an extra inch.

Like sam said it is just his guess. So he does think that there are some possible commits coming within the next 3-3.5 weeks. I think that is all we really need to worry about.

Now for who the possible commits could be. Now just like sam said his guess was 2, but that could easily mean 1-3 give or take because it is a guess.

Here are the canidates:

POGGI

LEVENBERRY

GEDEON

ISAAC

I think we need to look at this on how much we know about each recruit. Notice I didnt put treadwells name because everything points to him taking more time in his recruiting process, but the four guys above all have very very high interest in Michigan and possibly committing early. We think gedeon could be a silent commit, we know poggi has a high chance of picking his school at the end of april but could he do it a few weeks in advance..highly possible, levenberry has stated we are his number one and wanted to visit with his parents first so a commit might again be..highly possible, and of course ty isaac who wanted to go see usc before he made any kind of decision

so there you have it, it could be any combo of these four guys with treadwell being a dark horse

Sam was just answering a question the best he could, guesstimating - which is what he called it, I believe.  Heck, we might not get any commits by spring game, we might only get one.  We might get more, it's a guessing game, and that's supposed to be the fun in all this, not bashing people cause we think they claim "inside sources" or anything.

that Levenberry has said repeatedly that he will be waiting to announce at the All American game. Now I am not saying that couldn't change, but if you are leaving off Treadwell I think Levenberry should be left off too for consistency sake. Personally I would say Treadwell is every bit as likely as Levenberry (which is not very likely at all IMHE...but I would love to be wrong).

My guess is that it is Gedeon and Treadwell as well. Considering the coaches told O'Daniel we were full, they were obviously waiting on pre-confirmed commitments. JIMO. I just do not see it being Isaac, although him and Levenberry are my two favorites I just do not see either one of them being the commits. Can i just say F-U urbs! My whole family is from Columbus and they all thing he is a God but he is very mortal and actually just a great liar. We are doing it the right way! GO BLUE!!!
